Then a fascinating paranormal experience occured, one that admittedly did have me slightly nervous as I lay in my bed. I was lying there looking at my partner who looked blissfully fast asleep and feeling that pang of jealousy that I wasn't in the Land of Nod too, when something I will never forget happened: The absolute silence of the room was suddenly broken by a loud noise around the area in front of the bed, a noise that was similar to either cloth being torn or a zip being done-up. While recoiling from this and wondering what in the name of God was going on, there came a sound right after which was clearly liquid being poured onto the carpeted floor.

As someone who thinks too much, I found my thoughts immediately drifting to tomorrow morning and how I would check the entire floor for either a wet patch or any signs of liquid spillage. I was also wondering if anything was actually being poured on the floor or if it was merely the sound and why a spirit would pour anything on the carpet. I must say now that although I had assumed my partner was asleep, she was actually awake and terrified by the noises. I asked no leading questions, in fact, I didn't mention it, I overheard her tell her sister one day about the noise and immediately asked "You heard that too, you weren't asleep?". Well, at least this made it clear that it wasn't my imagination. Also, I must add that the children were not with us that night, we were alone in the building. This sequence of noises in front of the bed - the zip sound followed by the pouring water - occured again after that, shortly after the first time.

Now, one day it suddenly dawned upon me what the sounds could actually be. The sounds were like a zip followed by the sound of liquid falling onto the floor... It seemed silly but could someone be undoing the zip of their trousers and urinating? I don't think there was ever a toilet in the area in front of the bed due to the plumbing problems it would cause, but there was a toilet in front of our bedroom, however, the proximity of that toilet to the bedroom does not explain the sound being in front of our bed. This had me wandering if perhaps many decades ago, they used chamber pots and it was customary to urinate into those rather than go to the nearest toilet, assuming the one outside our bedroom wasn't there at the time. Could this be the explanation and if it's wrong, did we simply have a spirit who wants to make a point or maybe the sound wasn't a zip but actually was cloth tearing or something similar.
