VISA REQUIREMENTS

A visa is required by all non-British-Commonwealth nationals entering the country to work on a production. A visa may be obtained from the nearest Jamaican Consulate and film crew may work in Jamaica for up to six (6) months with waived visas.

WAIVER OF VISA APPLICATIONS

A waiver of visa can be granted to individuals working in Jamaica for a period of less than six (6) months. You will need to contact JAMPRO or the Jamaica Immigration Services and give them the following information:

  • Name of person as stated in valid passport
  • Date of Birth
  • Nationality
  • Passport Number
  • Position on Project
  • Estimated dates of arrival and departure
  • Port of arrival

The Commission will fax the required documents to alert Immigration of personnel's arrival.

MULTIPLE ENTRY VISA

This is required for all production staff members who will be entering and leaving the country several times during a production. Application Forms are available from the Commission, the Production Office or the Passport Office. Steps for obtaining a Multiple Entry Visa:

  • Either an Exemption of Visa or a Visa must be previously stamped in Passport;
  • A completed Application for Re-entry Visa Form;

The Commission facilitates the process and the Passport Office will have Passport stamped and returned.

ALIEN REGISTRATION

This is required for persons who will be in the country for six months or more. The requirements are:

  • Either an Exemption of Visa or a Visa must be previously stamped in Passport.
  • A completed Application for Re-entry Visa Form.
  • Two (2) black and white passport photos and a charge of approximately US$20 for each applicant are needed to process this.

The Passport Office will have Passport stamped and handed back immediately if done through the Commission.


VISITORS

Non-Jamaican nationals entering the country will not require visas if they are on vacation.

WORK PERMIT

This allows cast and crew to work on a specific production or for a specific company for over six (6) months. The following must be supplied to the Commission:

  • Completed Application Forms
  • Three notarized passport-size photos with name as stated in passport
  • A Resum�
  • Port, Date and Time of arrival

The Commission will fax the required documents to clear Immigration, and alert that department of personnel arrival.

PROCEDURE

Submit application to the Commission at least five (5) working days prior to arrival of crew and cast, giving the following information on the reverse of the Film Licence Application Form:

  • One passport size photograph (black and white or colour) with persons name as stated in their passport written on the back.
  • Date of birth
  • Valid Passport number
  • Position on project
  • A general statement of duties will be required if you have not interviewed a Jamaican for the position.

WORK PERMIT EXEMPTION

Non-Jamaican crew members and cast, may obtain an Exemption of Work Permit if they will be in Jamaica working for six (6) months or less.
