Agri-Business Manpower
Jamaican agricultural workers are on par with the most efficient anywhere else in the
world. Agricultural skills are taught in the primary schools, and greater opportunities to
hone these skills are available through participation in 4-H Clubs which exist
throughout the island.
Special Agricultural schools are
complemented by the Human Employment and Resource Training (H.E.A.R.T.) programme
to train and apprentice young men and women in commercial agricultural skills. Skilled men
and women for middle management positions in agriculture and agro-industry are trained at
the College of Agriculture Science and Education (CASE) and the University
of the West Indies.
Many Jamaicans graduate annually with
relevant degrees and practical experience in agriculture, management and engineering.
