Front & Back Turn Sequence: (Jive) Part 5
The first basic sequence. |
Please Note: This is a sequel to Basic Sequence: Front & Back (Cha Cha Cha)
Sequence:
1. Rock Turn 3 & 4
2. Front Turn 3 & 4
3. Back Turn 3 & 4
4. Rock Turn 3 & 4
5. Front Turn 3 & 4
6. Back Turn 3 & 4
Note:
Earlier the above sequence was practiced primarily with Cha Cha Cha in mind.
However the same sequence can be practiced for Jive as well. The only thing
required is the substitution of the rhythm for Jive, 1, 2, 3, &, 4 in place
of 2, 3, Cha, Cha, 1 respectively. See the table below:

1. The figure Front Turn done when at the start the weight is on the Left
foot is called the Reverse Whip.
2. The figure Back Turn done when at the start the weight is on the Left foot is
called the Natural Whip, which is commonly called the Whip.
3. The other two figures, the Front Turn and the Back Turn done when at the
start the weight is on the Right foot are the mirror images of the figures given
above.
4. The “mirror images” is to maintain the continuity and as well as to get
the practice of the figures starting on either of the two feet.
5. Although the movement is same here as that for Cha Cha Cha, the character of
the dance changes due to the different character of music.
