Front & Back Turn Sequence: (Cha Cha Cha) Part 1
The first basic sequence. |
Please Note: This is a sequel to Basic Sequence: Cha Cha Cha
Chasse: 1. All steps move in the same direction as indicated with the red line and arrow. 2. The first step of the Chasse is always leading in the direction of movement. 3. 2 & 3 is the way one would be moving when doing the Chasse for the counts 2, 3, of the figure Three Cha Cha Chas. 4. The next two figures are the ones that are more often used in the Front & Back Turn sequence. 5. 1 & 2 is the Back Turn, starting with the Left foot. Note the gap between the feet is small when the first step is taken, i.e. between the step 1 and the start. This is so as the one moving back and turning is on the inside of a circle that has a smaller circumference thus smaller distance to cover to stay square with the partner. The turn is counter clockwise, which is to the dancer’s left side 6. Cha Cha 1 is the Front Turn, starting with the Left foot. Note the gap between the feet is large when the first step is taken, i.e. between the step Cha (1) and the start. This is so as the one moving forward and turning is on the outer circle that has a larger circumference thus more distance to cover to stay square with the partner. The turn is clockwise, which is to the dancer’s right side. |
Note:
1. Front is almost similar to the Spot
Turn. Reference for Spot Turn is on page Basic
Sequence: Cha Cha Cha: Part 4
2. This is general-purpose sequence to the practise for large turns so the
smaller turns come more easily. This principle of turns is the same for more
or less all the dances.
3. The figures from this sequence are common in Jive, Foxtrot, Quickstep, and
Cha Cha Cha. The names for the same figures will be different when dealing with
a different dance.
4. This is slightly advanced sequence so kindly do not rush into it.
5. A slightly modified version of the Spot Turn, which in
essence is a Rock Step, will be referred to as the Front Turn.
6. Similarly there is a Back Turn, which again in
essence is a Rock Step
is a slight modification of the Hand to Hand, refer Basic
Sequence: Cha Cha Cha: Part 5
7. Here we will learn how the character of this sequence changes with the change
in any one or a combination of attributes, as the counts, music, stepping and
hold.
8. Here many things are repeated many times over, as these are the main points
that need to be embossed in the back of the mind.
