"The Future" depicted on the left was actually very close to our present in the pre-Parivesh Suraksha days. This is another appeal for an assembly, something we did frequently to attract the attention of people who "love" crowds. This is a printable gif image with transparent areas between black text. The background white of the webpage is showing through. English Translation (well..., more or less) The LORRIES have THINNED, the BANKS of the pond look CLEANER - but for how long? Unified effort by residents of Central Road(adjoining the pond) has somewhat improved the hellish conditions. "Unity" - thats the reason! But conditions are very unstable and will deteriorate the moment we slacken our efforts. Therefore, next Sunday at 10 A.M. please assemble on Central Road - everyone! Presence of Mothers and Sisters is vitally important. Discuss what needs to be done, what has been done. Above all, this must be a show of citizens' solidarity. Maybe space will be a problem(you must be wondering at this repeated reference to space-constraint. Our meetings were usually held in the shade of one of the 5 or 6 apartment buildings in our area, a place normally reserved for residents' cars - and not on the "Road" itself. This, so as not to break any municipal rules ourselves. Sometimes those places could be a tight squeeze for 50 - 60 individuals, especially in summer) still, you must come.
