Deepest Condolences: Twin tragedy have struck the parivesh movement, almost within the span of a month - taking away two of our most inspirational founder members. We have lost Manjusha Guha, our beloved Manjushadi, on the 8th of Oct, '08 and Anil Kumar Mandal, our beloved 'Meshomoshai' on the 18th of Nov, '08. This is a difficult time for us, and the loss is irreplaceable. We will never forget you Manjushadi, we will never forget you Meshomoshai, may your souls rest in eternal peace.

| Disappointed, but hanging on... We were not expecting this. The work of embedding logs (piling) along the perimeter of the pond, so as to support the muddy bank has been done upto a length of 37m. We have been told by the powers that be that the present allotment of fund doesn't permit more extensive work. Clearly, we were hoping that piling or not, at least the thick coat of water hyacinth and tangled grass covering the surface would be cleared. Obviously, that will not happen, at least not in this initial phase. We must wait for the next allocation. On the brighter side, this pond, which was being stealthily enchroached upon has now re-established its identity as a pond. Government money has been spent on it. This is not a trivial achievement at all! Parivesh Suraksha Committee, and the people of the locality can take a bit of a pride in this. |
