8th January 2006 - The meeting transpired more or less as expected. The councillors, as always, pledged to help make our dreams come true. The work has began, the flith that is coming up from the pond is shocking. This is like a paleontological dig, unearthing terrible monsters from the past, memories of how degraded our locality had become just 4 years ago and how the movement had stopped (hopefully) that degradation, and how water hyacinth and other soldiers of nature had benifitted from this brief respite and had grown and gradually covered the flithy tub that was once a clear and beautiful pond. Keeping our fingers crossed... Jan 4, 2006. the long wait for restoration of the pond is coming to an end. Today at 7 in the morning a Corporation truck unloaded a pile of logs. These wil be used to fix the crumbling perimeter of the pond. Removal of water hyacinth will begin this week. Coming Sunday, we will probably be holding a joint meeting with the Police and the Councillors. Leaflet... Wishing all lovers of civic rights and a green earth - No news is good news... :0)
