Many good wishes for you in Parivesh suraksha Committees' new leaflet. Since it was founded on the 24th of February, 2002, nearly three years have gone by. Its futile to try to measure our successes against our failures, since we had begun with our backs to the wall. At least the 'pond community' hav been able to establish a common platform from which to express our grievances to the authorities.

Just before the pujas, and very recently, the committee has had a discussion with the authorities. This was regarding the present state of peace and cleanliness in the community. It would be wrong to say that peace and cleanliness are maintained automatically. Very slowly, a sense of discipline is developing in the region. We have to be in constant communication with the police and the councillors, keep a sharp watch over things happening or anticipate things that might happen if not checked in time. This requires utmost dedication and is far from 'automatic!' We request everyone, especially the younger generation to take part in this work. We had been bitten once (and badly!) and hence must be twice shy of slipping into a lazy state of mind.

We have also discussed with the authorities a certain restorative project. We are all anxiously waiting for the project to begin. Even though it appears as if the work is hardly progressing, we are hopeful that very soon it will see the light of the day. What is left is the matter of increasing intra-community interactions.
