What Tinni says...

'Drip drop drip drop...' sings the rain! Rain means a grumpy Dad and Mom. Rain means working hard to avoid muddy puddles. Traffic jams. The school bus failing to arrive.

For me, the rainy season is the happiest time ever. I love rain. I love little green leaves. Soggy green grass. During rainy season, only the asphalt stays grey. Eveything else turns green. Oh, what a lovely sight to see!

When I was about two years younger, my parents' friends used to comment "Ugh, what a filthy place you live in!" Not any more. Now they exclaim "Wow, what a great place to have an apartment!" My Mother laughs. Father brags "Oh yeah... this didn't come just like that! We really had to fight for a cleaner environment."

well, I am not into fighting. But I do understand that when I stand beneath that fluttering Tricolor on the 15th of August, spread my arms skywards and breathe in a lungful of air - I can't help thinking "How sweet and fresh this air is! Wasn't like this at all when I was a kid." Then, everything about this place was ugly and I often used to gasp and feel suffocated. But now - AaaH!

Dear Neighbour, harbinger of freedom

You have just read what Tinni says. You have given her that greatest gift - Freedom! Freedom to breathe without fear. But we also know that "Eternal vigil is the price for freedom." Therefore, come what may, and despite ups and downs, we must keep fighting for the environment of our locality - ecological, or social. And unitedly!
