| This web site has been created by Charles Ishman. However, it is a 'family' supported project with resources and information coming in from relatives throughout the United States. Although this is the Ishman Family Tree, I hope that it is understood that it is my intention to track the family lines which have married into this particular line of Ishmans, which so far as we know today begins with Joseph Ishtman, who lived from 1807-1882. (If you noticed the 't' in I-s-h-t-m-a-n and thought it was a typo, no, it is not. From information collected by Lisa (Ishman) Gamber from an old family Bible, at one time the family name was spelled as I have indicated. I am thinking the spelling changed in 1889 with Charles Clinton Ishman, who lived from 1889-1948, but this is so far just a guess, which I am basing on what is engraved on his headstone.) I would like to thank my Aunt Barbara (Ishman) Hackett who overwhelmed me with information on family history and names during our 3 hour phone conversation which took place on Sunday April 27, 2008, the day after my 45th birthday. Aunt Barbara will be sending copies of her information to me, allowing me to construct our family line going back 6 generations. Now understand that I am starting with my generation and working backward. I realize there are chidren born to those within my generation, they are now the 7th generation. At this time I am not aware of an 8th generation child, although they well could exist. I would also like to thank several cousins, and their wives, also part of the 6th generation, for their help in putting me in touch with the right people with the information needed to make this web site a reality. Bobby & Kelley Statler, Bobby's mother Lois (Ishman) Statler is my father's sister. Billy & Christa Statler, Billy is Bobby's younger brother. Lisa (Ishman) Gamber, Lisa's father Ronald Ishman is my father's brother. Lynn Ishman, Lynn is Lisa'a younger sister. ALSO I want to thank my Aunt & Uncle, Jack & Sandy (Orris) Servello. I spoke with Uncle Jack on Monday April 28, 2008 and he offered to share the history that he and Sandy collected back in the 1990s during Sandy's search for her missing sisters. Those sisters being my mother, Margaret (Orris) Ishman, and my Aunt Shirly May (Orris) Montgomery. Thanks to Sandy's efforts to track down her sisters, my mother was able to be reunited with at least one of her long lost sisters before she passed away in 1993. (With the permission of my Aunts Sandy & Shirly, I hope to be able to share more of that story, a piece of family history, here on this web site.) I ALSO WANT TO THANK My Uncle Bill whom I spoke with earlier today, April 29, 2008, who also agreed to supply this project with pictures and what information he could collect. And also, my Grandfather, Irvin W. Ishman, whom I spoke with on Monday, April 28, 2008 for the first time in over 15 years, my apologies to him and to the rest of the famliy for not doing better to keep in touch with the family. I will endeavor to correct that mistake in the future. At 94 years of age, Irvin Ishman is the last of his generation, which I would label the 4th generation of documented Ishmans (so far). I hope that we all remember to make him a part of our lives, even if its only through a phone call once a week. All that having been said, if you wish to contact me you may do so via email at: [email protected] Be sure to place some reference to "Ishman Family" in the subject line of your email to prevent it from being sent to the junk mail folder by mistake. Or by post mail at: Chuck Ishman PO Box 141191 Grand Rapids, Michigan 49514 |
