Communication is human nature. It is a requisite tool for interaction in any society and as evidently there are hundreds of languages in the world that shows the natural desire for man to interact with each other through communication in going about their daily lives.   There are many modern day commercial advertisements that promote the use of telecommunication services in the many different media such as newspaper, TV, Radio and most recently the internet. One of that had catch the hearts of millions is that with the famous phrase, "Reach out and touch someone." This advertisement was so successful that it brought more business and profit to AT&T in the mid 80's.  In business, communication skills are given great emphasis to ensure that the right information is transmitted to the right people at the right time, failure of which would result in noise. Noise unfortunately could be costly to businesses as they would mean loss of profits, opportunities, market share and in extreme cases the foreclosure of businesses.
As such, organization allocates substantial amount of budget to enable the best forms of communication tools are made available.  Today, there are strong demands for better communication devices that are associated with lower operating costs. In actual fact the choices are quite a plenty as competition heighten in this lucrative industry and with the advent of even better technologies such as 3G, 3.5G, 4G which are slowly replacing basic mobile phone technologies of GSM, GPRS, EDGE.

Transmission and reception speed and quality are the two main factors that distinguish these different technologies in mobile communication as the newer better quality and higher speed enables video streaming capabilities. This in turn, had open doors to a wider spectrum of content, application and services such as mobile banking,
mobile TV, internet and others. Unfortunately, the costs for 3G services in Malaysia for example are still quite high and the content is still under developed. As such, preferences for the time being are still on the basic services i.e. GSM+EDGE etc. But, this won't remain as drastic price falls could be expected in the very near future. 

The masses in many countries are finding it a great necessity to be equipped with a good mobile phone as a tool for basic communication. Parents in Malaysia for example do not mind spending money on a good mobile phone for their children as it provide some form of comfort to be able to keep track of their love ones. Children on the other hand are under strong pressure and influenced of their peers to keep up with the latest cool trends. Mobile phone communication and its related businesses through out the world in general are experiencing a boom. Not only is that the basic mobile phone business, additionally there are accessories, memory cards, MP3, Ring tones, Software, Screen savers and a whole lot more.  

Internet is also providing another alternative to consumers in the form VOIP short for Voice Over Internet Protocol.
VOIP offers an even cheaper mean of serious alternative communication tool as it takes advantage of internet ready connectivity which has become common to a modern household or businesses. Interestingly, VOIP hardware are coming into the market and better ones are being developed to satisfy the thirst of sophisticated consumers who demands fancy styles and features. 
Traditional land line phones are also being phased out by newer technologies such as cordless
DECT which has basically similar technology to GSM. Fancy features such as multi users enabling conferencing, digital recording, longer distance from base station and other mimicking features of mobile phones are making DECT systems more appealing to an even wider consumer demographic as the prices of the hardware go down with time as well.
