>> Cuban Missile Crisis. John F. kennedy
Posted on :: May 15, 2002 - 10:05 pm :: By - NeErAj

John F. Kennedy became president in 1960 after President Eisenhower. He was the youngest president ever to be elected ( 43 years) and the first Roman catholic to serve in the office. The way Kennedy dealt with the Crisis with Cuba took a lot of courage. It took a brave man to do what he had to do . He has nerves of steel because must people would have backed down first. The Soviets installed nuclear missiles in Cuba and in October 1962 Kennedy found this out because of air reconnaissance. Kennedy set a naval blockade to prevent any arrival of more missiles. 13 days passed before Khrushchev yields and agrees to disarm the missile. The missiles are recalled and Kennedy gains respect form Khrushchev. The cold war continued but the two learned of the countries learned from the crisis.
