Before leaving his presidency , Einsenhower gave permission to the CIA to train cuban exiles so they could invade Cuba. Kenedy found out about this just a few days after he was in office. Kennedy had several doubts about contnuing with the plans of invasion but he later approved it. This event took place in April/1961 when 1500 CIA-trained men attacked Cuba but everything went wrong. This plan turned out to be a huge failure and a great humiliation for the united states.More than a hundred men were kille and the rest surrendered. The U.S. had to pay 53 million dollars worth of supplies and foodto Cuba in orderto get the captive soldiers from the invasion. Many cuban exiles in Americanever forgave him for his "betrayl". Kennedy took full reponsability for the disaster but in he blamed the CIA. Later after the failed invasion he ordered an investigation of why the mission had failed. The reasons were not given to the public until twenty years after the investigation when it wwas published in a book called " Operation Zapata".
