Dead Red Sea Birds (Deep Elm Rec.)
Dead Red Sea's vocals, carried out by Ryan Shelkett from Cross My Heart, reveal the self-loathing, depression and anger within life expressed through this emotional record. With merging genres, indie-rock, hardcore, and blues the melodic Birds is exactly what i expected, soft, smooth and depressing. Shelkett's "pop-poetry" within each song give Birds that feeling
of emotional distress which slowly sinks into the listener. Baltimore's Dead Red Sea is Ryan Shelkett (vocals/songwriter), Charles Cole (rhodes, drums), and Alan Randall (bass). An uplifting record with reality based song lyrics and soothing vocals run through Birds. Dead Red Sea are the essence of indie/emo rock, a definite record to add to your collection.
Jets to Brazil Four Cornered Night (Jade Tree)
With the second release from Jets to Brazil, Four Cornered Night shoots out energetic and busy instrumentation adding another guitar and much more piano. Personally, this record is more organized with impressive lyrics and quality production although sometimes finding Blakes vocals trailing off which i blame on Orange Rhyming Dictionary. Despite this, Jets to Brazil create powerful serges of flowing melodies and put you in a siezure of
pure indie rock. Interprating expieriances of life such as figures of value in "all things good and nice" and depression little by little in each track.  Four Cornered Night capture some of Jets to Brazil's pop/indie-rock sounds into this record of comforting melodies and prolonging emotion as Blake Schwarzenbach (Jaw Breaker), Jeremy Chatelain, Chris Daly and Brian Maryansky cover this amazing record.
Last Days of April Angel Youth (Deep Elm Rec.)
"Brilliant arrangements, searing melodies and flawless instrumentation", Angel Youth has only begun to show us what Last Days of April are capable of. Critically praised by indie rockers amoung the world, Angel Youth has a sound unlike other records.. intense stereo tricks, smart vocal melodies, and great production (Pelle). Last Days of April have a perfomance so grand and.. well..
perfect. With Karl Larsson on vocals, Lars Taberman on guitar, Daniel Svenfors on bass, and Andreas Fornell on drums along with production by Pelle Gunnerfeldt (Refused, Starmarket) this Sweedish set-up has a one of a kind sound that is pure amazment. From the first spin to the last, Angel Youth reveal something new each time. One of Deep Elm's greatest projects, Last Days of  April show us just that.
Brandtson Dial in Sounds (Deep Elm Rec.)
Again and again Brandtson hit us with another great record. Melodic vocal lines carried out by Myk Porter hit harder and harder with a beautiful harmony and agression. Dial in Sounds, as well as every other Brandtson record, drag you in and keep you singing along. With essential plans to amaze and carry you away from the mainstream music scene, Brandtson inherent the essence of emotion
rock and supply the listener with a collection of emotional harmonys. As the underground indie/emo scene emerge, Brandtson continues to grow along with their music, Dial in Sounds will definitly satisfy any emo and/or brandtson innovator or true deep elm fan. With an obessed passion for the band to give something to the fan, Brandtson throw down a fierce guitar, crying vocals and a steady drum... Dial in Sounds hum vocal melodys right through your head.
American Football American Football (Polyvinyl)
Mike Kinsella. That should be all i have to say about this album. With amazing guitarist (Steve Holmes), soothing drums (Steve Lamos) and the legendary Mike Kinsella (Owen, Joan of Arc, Owls) on bass and vocals, American Football has a sound that is perfect. Every song on this album is amazing, there is no song better than another. This could be one of the most influencal and
greatest album in indie/emo reocrds. Since the break up of American Football, this album has gone down as one of the best. This record is a must to have, so chose American Football as your next selection.

Ever since Designing a Nervous Breakdown, The Anniversary developed a whole differant style. While Designing was more of a pop/emo record, these Kansas City boys and girl (Adrianne) came back with something completly differant in a form of indie and rock. Personally, this album is a masterpiece. The striking voices of Josh and Justin cut through your ears and put you in the mood to
rock out. The only dissapointment found in this album was the complete silence of Adrianne, who gave The Anniversary a certain sound. Adrianne is featured only a few times throughout 4 songs on Your Majesty, addressing you with no lyrics but only "hums" and "yea's". Despite this, the album is a complete success, i highly reccomend grabbing a copy your next trip to the record shop. A great album with so much emotion and information, one of my fav's.
