1892 Illo Tempore Film Awards Winners

(29th of April 2003) The French animated film, Un Bon Bock (A Good Beer), is named the Best Picture at the 2nd Illo Tempore Film Awards - 1892, winning a record of three awards. Emile Reynaud's production made history by producing a perfect score, winning in all the categories it was nominated. It brought Reynaud the Best Director Award, while Gaston Paulin got the Best Composer Award.

Emile Reynaud swept the awards, by winning four gongs, Best Picture and Best Director with Un Bon Bock, and Best Breakthrough and The International Award for the best production from France with Pauvre Pierrot (Poor Pierrot). This equalizes William Heise's achievement in the 1891 competition.

Lumière's documentary, Le Prince de Galles (The Prince of Wales), after getting an impressive five nominations, managed to materialise only one into an award. HRH Edward Sax Coberg-Gotha became the first royal figure to win an Illo Tempore Film Award, his appearance in the French production bringing him the Best Actor Award. The would-be King Edward VII of United Kingdom is the second performer to win all three acting awards, The Achievement Award, The Merit Prize and the annual Best Actor Award, all in the same year.

The Illo Tempore Tribute winner William K.L. Dickson obtained two awards, both for Wrestling. He won The International Award for the best production from USA, and Best Producer, the only Production award he missed out in the 1891 competition.

The Illo Tempore Tribute winner William Heise regained Best Cinematographer, for Fencing. The victory secures him a comfortable position as the most awarded director of photography by the Illo Tempore Film Awards

The main disappointment was probably A Hand Shake, that was left un-awarded in both categories it was nominated.
