Prof. Dr. Mandavilli Mukunda Rao, is currently a visiting Professor at the Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT) Deemed University in the Electronics & Communication Engg department and is an Honorary Research Professor, in Biomedical Sciences at Sri Ramachandra Medical College & Research Institute (SRMC & RI), Chennai.

 

He has a teaching experience at the Indian Institute of Technology, Chennai for more than 30 years and research experience in the fields of Aeronomy, Laser Technology & Applications, Optical Communication and Optical Sensors for more than 30 years. He was an Industrial Consultant in the field of laser & fiber-optic applications for more than 20 years. He has more than 60 publications in standard technical/scientific journals.

 

He was a Senior Research Fellow at Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) New Delhi, India, a Visiting Scientist at National Center for Atmospheric Research, Boulder, Colo., U.S.A and Professor at Electrical Engineering Department, Indian Institute of Technology, Madras. He also undertook many projects for Council of Scientific & Industrial Research, Govt. of India, Indian National Science Academy, Department of Science & Technology, Govt. of India, and Defense Research & Development Organization, Govt. of India

 

He is the recipient of several research awards like Alexander von Humboldt (AvH) Fellowship of Germany and International Center for Theoretical Physics (ICTP) Fellowship of Italy. He also received a research grant worth 40,000 German Marks (8 to 9 lakhs of Indian rupees) towards the procurement of sophisticated equipment from Germany for setting-up of Optical Diagnostics Laboratory at SRMC & RI. He also received Rashtriya Gaurav Award � Certificate of Excellence for Meritorious Services, Outstanding Performance and Remarkable Role of India International Friendship Society.
