The excitement of Monday had been too much for me, so I stayed in bed until midday, when we had arranged for Katie to pop round to the hostel to watch the football against Italy in the Olympics.

Jay returned just before the end of the first half and we went off to take some photos around town, including the Ushuia - el fin del mundo signpost, and other shots in the snow.

After that, we went for lunch at a place that Katie recommended. It was nice and posh and, more importantly, was showing the football. So we sat down, saw Argentina take Italy apart at the end of the game, and had some of the best pasta that Ive ever had (albeit at a price that should expect it!) and relaxed and enjoyed it.

Katie and I fancied taking a walking tour around the city, following the route that the official bus takes, so, ignoring the snow that was still falling, and the slush accumulating at the side of the road, we walked around the church, the shopping mall, looked at the old houses.

We also went into the End of the World Museum, which again had many different elements of history in the town, from discovery, the aborigines, the convicts and the people who had shaped the changes over the years.

After that, we went to her hotel and slumped with a bottle of wine and some cheese and watched the Olympics for a few hours.

Going back to the hostel, Jay had apparently already left with an American guy called Matt, but Fernando explained that he and a load of Spaniards were going to the film festival on the other side of town.

Cinema always sounds a good idea to me, so ignoring the cold once again, we traipsed the half hour walk to the Casa de Cultura where we watched an Argentinian film called Conversaciones con Mama, and got to meet one of the main actors, a pony-tailed bald spotted guy who I had already seen in an Argentinian film. Cool! Good film, but try telling Fernando who fell asleep half way through and missed most of the plot

It was gone half twelve when the film finished, so we despaired of finding somewhere to eat. But, hey, this is Argentina, and we found a late night spot called El Parador which happily served us pizza and beer.

More worrying was the main news on Fuegian tv which announced that the flights out had been cancelled because of the poor visibility due to the snow. Not good for Katie and Jay who leave on Wednesday!
