8.0 THE ORIENTOR, THE FUNCTIONS,
AND THE INSTRUMENTS
An Orientor who does not
have an adequate Support person to rely on will have problems of
cohesion within the structure. An Orientor who does not have an
adequate Administrator will be "flying blind" due to lack of
information and contact.
8.1 The
Calendar, Organigram, and Map are the three ordering instruments for
the work of each Orientor. It
is not enough that the functions of the structure are adequately
fulfilled in order for the structure to achieve its mission. It is also
necessary for the Orientor to master the use of the Calendar, because
otherwise his or her work will be disordered and personalized. And just
as the calendar fixes actions in time and could thus be considered a
"chronogram," so all actions are also carried out in space:
each member lives in a certain place, the meeting centers are in
certain locations, etc. The map is thus a "spacegram" which
allows one at a glance to locate things in the landscape of the
activities. And similarly, the Organigram allows the Orientor to follow
the structural lines, to understand the composition of his or her
structure, and to detect and be able to correct any malformations or
disequilibrium.
Calendar, Map, and
Organigram are the three instruments which every Orientor uses to give
order to his or her work.
