WHAT does this site offer?

This site offers three lessons in which you'll watch brief video clips of parents and children interacting and consider the effective (and not-so-effective) techniques that you see the parents using. (Actually, the "parents" and the "children" will be members of our staff, acting these parts.)

We'll be discussing six different skill areas for supporting your child's language development. Each lesson addresses two of the skills. There will be an opportunity in the QUIZ page for you to consider all of the skills simultaneously. After participating in each of the three lessons, you will be able to distinguish between examples that show valuable techniques and ones that show approaches that are less effective.

(You say that you're curious about the topics now? Okay, we'll tell you what they are!)
The six areas we'll be looking at are:

Lesson 1
Lesson 2
Lesson 3
Physical Cues

Expectations

Modeling

Length of Utterance

Self-Talk

Repetition

The topics sound terribly "official", don't they? But, don't worry! As you work through the lessons, you'll find yourself saying, "Oh...of course! That makes perfect sense!"

Now that you know WHAT you'll be learning, are you ready to find out HOW?
