Video B: "Getting Dressed"

(Note: We hope to add video clips to our site in the very near future - once we can locate a digital video camera!  In the meantime, we've had to content ourselves with providing the script of this communicative exchange: )

Video Script:

Child is sleeping in bed.

Mom enters. She sits on the bed and gently shakes the child's shoulder to wake her. When the child is awake, Mom looks into her eyes, and says:
Good morning.

Mom waits for the child to reply, pointing to her mouth to indicate that a reply is expected.

Child replies: Mama

Mom shows child two shirts, one red and one blue, pointing to each shirt in turn and looking questioningly at the child: Which shirt? Red shirt? Blue shirt?

Child points to the red shirt.

Mom says: Red shirt? She waits with finger pointed again to her mouth to cue a response.

Child: Red shirt.

Mom holds up two pairs of shoes, one pair white and the other blue. Which shoes? White shoes? Blue shoes?

Child points to the white shoes.

Mom: White shoes? She waits, with finger pointed again to her mouth to cue a response.

Child: White.

Mom: White shoes?

Child: White shoes..

Mom gives a hug and says: Okay! White shoes! Good job!
