AMONG the most important times in one's life is when one is alone. Being
alone, often, necessary. Certain insights often come out only when we
are alone. The artist need to be alone to create; the writer, to work
out his thoughts; the musician, to compose; and the religious people,
to pray.
Really, it is necessary to learn how to use solitude to picture a vision
as a way to reach one's goals. Meditation is important aspect of reaching
one's goal, therefore, we have to meditate, and to meditate we need
solitude.
We have to meditate on good things, for mental exercise, and for personal
enrichment of thought. We need not daydream, but instead we need serious
meditation. We always need time to think. We would like to have knowledge,
to know all the answers, then, we must reasonably work for it.
In
particular, people troubles today lies in the abandonment of that solitude.
Growing numbers of people has the same dislike to solitude and meditation.
But as mentioned, frequently, this solitude was creative. From it so
often came the dreams, the hopes, and the soaring aims that charged
life with meaning and contributed to giving us our poets, artists, and
scientists. For it is in solitude that the works of hand, heart, and
mind are always envisioned.
Notice,
solitude differs from loneliness. Solitude is, to some extent, necessary
for us to refresh ourselves. When faced with loneliness, many immediately
turn to some form of electronic entertainment. Like watching television.
Yet, prolonged television viewing is one of the worst things we can
do when we are lonely. It promotes tameness, boredom, world-weariness,
and fantasy, becoming a poor substitute for face-to-face interaction
with other people.
Temporary
periods of being alone are beneficial. In fact, a certain amount of
solitude is a basic need of humans. There are times when we need our
privacy. Those who are more often in the company of others, isolation
can be a refreshing change and can offer fine opportunity for thinking.
Solitude, in that case, is needed.Actually,
solitude can be very valuable if we use our time alone usefully. We
may do this by reading valuable books, writing something that interests
us, and, of course, resting.
When
we spend times of solitude in purposeful meditation, we can strengthen
our faith. Such meditation can serve to draw us nearer to God. It can
move us to express ourselves appreciatively in prayer, studying the
Bible, and meditating on it, thus enhancing our personal relationship
with the Almighty God.
Finally,
make good use of solitude. Learn to use solitude productively. Meditate
on the great work ahead of you. Balanced the periods of solitude with
association with people. FIN
