The purchase of Harmers Wood is currently in the hands of the group's solicitors. Most of this work has been completed, we are hoping the wood will be purchased early next year. Our business plan indicates that the majority of the work will be required in the first year, we are therefore looking for volunteers to join the management committee. If you have a small amount of time to spare and would like to get involved in this local project contact us via the link in the menu.

Harmers Wood was put up for sale by the Cholmondeley Estate in June 2005, initially interest was shown by commercial concerns and the bids soon increased to in excess of £50,000. An informal group of local users of the wood formed themselves into a company, sought charitable status and through a media campaign managed to secure a deal with the Cholmondeley Estate to purchase the wood at the original asking price of £32,000 providing the wood remained open for the use of the pubic.

The Friends of Harmers Wood Trust is now raising money to purchase the wood, you can contact us here to make a pledge or make an inquiry.
