About Harmers Wood

Harmers Wood is located at grid reference SJ 492752, and can be found on this map just below the word 'fort', to the south east of Helby Hill.

Harmers Wood is the only fragment of woodland on the south side of Helsby Hill that has public access, the main path takes the Longster Trail off Hill Road North through this delightful Birch, Oak and Rowan wood. The habitat is used by foxes, badgers, squirrels, buzzards, woodpeckers, owls and many species of small birds. Walkers, runners and dog walkers pass through the wood daily. Surrounded by farmland, it is an environmental gem that the trust believe should be preserved for the future use of the public.

The Friends of Harmers Wood Trust is now raising money to purchase the wood, you can contact us here to make a pledge or make an inquiry.
