Business Plan - Executive Summary

Friends of Harmer Wood Trust is a charity created in the Autumn of 2005 to buy and manage a plot of woodland near Helsby, Cheshire. It is run solely by volunteers wanting to deliver a natural asset for the local community. Everyone who respects the wood will be welcome.

It is planned to raise £32,000 to purchase the land from Cholmondeley Estates and thereafter carry out safety and landscape enhancements to preserve this piece of beautiful Cheshire countryside.

The four sandstone quarries provide an interesting dimension that can provide new educational and environmental opportunities. Safety is paramount and the Trust will undertake emergency fencing to minimise the risk to the public as soon as possible following purchase. A permanent solution will be found after an assessment by a project team.

Friends of Harmer Wood has a Board of Directors who act in compliance with the Trust's Constitution.
