1- Contents:

    This graduate course covers the topics concerning the Design Process, Computer Aided Design (CAD) Process. Implementation of the CAD process for the design of mechanical elements and systems. Using of Visual BASIC as an Object Oriented Language for the design of Machine Elements. AutoCAD will also be used as a CAD tool for drawing of the designed machine elements. Attendance, written exams as well as oral exam are taken into consideration for the course grading.

3- Assignments and Exams:

- Assignment # 1: AutoCAD Drawing exercise, will be available with the  instructor before the lecture of 15/12/2002, (Duration 2 weeks).

- Assignment # 2: Write a report on the given program for designing V-Belts, The report must conforms with the lecture of 15/12/2002 (Program Development Process). (V-Belt Design Program.ZIP), Note: The program is an .EXE file and designed using Visual BASIC 6.0, (Duration 1 week).

- Assignment # 3: Design a CAD program for any machine element of your choice. The program should conforms with the lecture of 15/12/2002 (Program Development Process). The report must contains the design procedure and equations, any needed tables or charts, flowchart of the design process, screens of the program, verification of the program , help and a disk contains the program. Use Visual BASIC 6.0, (Duration 5 weeks), extended 2 weeks more. (Final due date: 16/02/2003).

- Assignment # 4: Each student is allowed for 10 minutes for representation of his submitted CAD program. Running the program and only 3 transparencies are allowed. ( Due date: 1/03/2003, and 8/03/2003).
