The best way to start Hachland Wrestling's first
Week In Review Column would be to explain how I'm working this. First of
all, the only things included in the Week In Review Column will be WWE Pay
Per Views, RAW, Smackdown, and NWA:TNA's Wednesday Night Pay Per Views. I
could include Heat, Velocity, Confidential, etc... but I'm limiting this
to shows that advance storyline for the promotion.
Once and awhile, you will see a show recap for Heat, Velocity, or maybe CZW
Fake You! TV. That's a definite possibility, especially for Velocity now
that Paul London and Spanky are getting serious TV time.
So anyway, when I do the week in review, I'll always begin by the week's
show recaps, then I'll put my thoughts after that. So it begins... |
WWE Smackdown (Nov. 13th)
- Kurt Angle over Nathan Jones by Run In DQ From Matt Morgan. Bob Holly in
for the save.
- Akio & Sakoda over Noble & Mysterio by Tajiri run in.
- Undertaker gives a bad ass promo from a graveyard. One of the better ones
I've seen in awhile.
- Bashams over Chavito by cheating and the old Switcheroo.
- Bradshaw over A-Train via Clothesline From Hell.
- Cena is the 5th Member of Team Angle... No Shit...
- Another funny ass Cat promo.
- Cena & Benoit over Big Show & Brock via Cena Low Blow and loaded
fist shot.
WWE Survivor Series (Nov. 16th)
- Team Angle over Team Lesnar via Cena FU on Big Show Survivors: John Cena
& Chris Benoit
- WWE Women's Championship: Molly Holly retains over Lita via exposed turnbuckle
shot, and rollup.
- Kane over Shane McMahon in an Ambulence Match via Tombstone on the floor,
and closed ambulence door.
- Smackdown Tag Team Championship: Basham Brothers retain over Los Guerreros
via distraction and rollup. - Team Bischoff over Team Austin via Batista
interference and Orton pinfall on HBK. Survivors: Randy Orton.
- Vince McMahon over The Undertaker in a Buried Alive match via Kane interference
and Vince Burial.
- WWE World Championship: Goldberg retains over Triple H after Goldberg takes
out the entire Evolution, then Spears and Jackhammers Triple H for the pin.
WWE Raw (Nov. 17th)
- Booker T over Mark Henry.
- Jindrak & Cade over La Resistance via pinfall.
- WWE Intercontinental Championship: RVD over Ric Flair via DQ after Randy
Orton runs in from Commentary and RKOs RVD.
- RAW Tag Team Championship: Dudley Boyz retain over Test & Steiner after
a 3D on Test. Stacey wouldn't give Test a chair to use.
- Molly & Eric Biscboff over Matt Hardy & Lita after Matt Hardy turns
on Lita.
- Val Venis over Rico via Money Shot.
- Triple H/Randy Orton/Batista over Goldberg in a 3 on 1 match via Pedigree
and tons of triple teaming.
NWA:TNA (Nov. 19th)
- Raven, Sandman, and Eric Watts over Joe E. Legend and Red Shirt Security
in a Clockwork Orange House Of Fun Match via Raven Effect on Ryan Wilson.
- Kid Kash over Shark Boy via Money Maker.
- CM Punk & Julio Dinero (The Gathering) over Sonny Siaki & Ekmo
Fatu via Double Dropkick on Ekmo after Trinity refuses to give Siaki a chair
to use.
- Chris Sabin over David Young... Twice. Once in three seconds, twice in
about five minutes after the match is restarted.
- NWA Tag Team Championship: Simon & Swinger vs. 3 Live Kru. The titles
are held up after a double pin finish that sees Killings German Suplex Swinger,
but both men's shoulders are down.
- Sonjay Dutt over Christopher Daniels and X via Springboard Hurricanrana
pin. Great Fucking Match.
- AJ Styles over Abyss via Chokeslam reversal into a roll up pin.
So what are my thoughts on the past week? First of all, the WWE put on a
damn good Pay Per View for the first time in months. The show was pretty
damn good top to bottom, with the Survivor Series Classic Matches being great
for what they were. Cena and Benoit both went over in the Team Angle vs.
Team Lesnar match, setting Cena up as a legit contender, and Benoit to be
the #1 Contender after making Lesnar tap out to the Crossface.
Steve Austin is gone, sadly, for now after Orton pinned HBK to seel the deal
for Team Bischoff. Excellent match. Batista interfered for the finish, but
HBK had already been bleeding EXTREME for almost the entire match, and it
just reminded you of the old days and HBK's "Never Say Die" attitude. After
the match, Austin cuts an emotional promo:
”I started my career, in 1989, right here in Dallas, Texas. And I
wasn’t looking forward to ending it tonight, and I ain’t happy
about a damn thing, but if it’s gonna end, at least the one thing I
feel, that I don’t feel about a damn thing. But I feel justified that
it started in Dallas, Texas and it’s been a hell of a damn ride, and
I appreciate every single thing that you people have done for me. So I am,
excuse me, I am feeling somewhat justified, that it ended in Dallas, Texas.
It’s been a lot of ups and downs, good times and damn sure been some
bad times, and you’re not going to hear Stone Cold Steve Austin say
this a lot, but I love the shit out of you guys.”
Kind of emotional on the home front too. Austin was what got me back into
wrestling after fading out. He put the business back on the map, and really
made it what it is now. He will be back, but it still hit it's point.
Raw on Monday put good progression into the Armaggedon buildup, already setting
up RVD vs. Randy Orton for the IC Title. I see Randy taking it, but don't
quote me as I also think this is just buildup for Wrestlemania, where you'll
see Orton vs. RVD for the WWE World Championship. I know they're building
this to be Brand vs. Brand, but I still think you'll see several single brand
matches. Here's what I see for WM based on current Buildup:
- Main Event: Goldberg vs. Brock Lesnar
- Undertaker vs. Kane
- WWE Heavyweight Championship: Kurt Angle vs. Chris Benoit(c)
- WWE World Championdhip: RVD vs. Randy Orton(c)
Of course, I could be wrong, or I could be wishfully thinking. But after
Benoit made Lesnar tap, it definately makes Benoit the No.1 Contender. So
let's say Benoit takes the title at the Royal Rumble. Without a doubt, Kurt
Angle will then win the Rumble, his first Royal Rumble, cementing his place
in WWE History as a KOTR Winner, Royal Rumble Winner, World/IC/Euro/Tag Champion.
Setting up one more classic match, Angle vs. Benoit, for a title, Benoit
as the champ for the first time. It will be beautiful. I could also see it
being Cena vs. Angle vs. Benoit, but without a doubt Benoit as the champ
no matter what.
In TNA news, they deliver with another solid show, and built storylines more.
Next week sees a couple more great matches as well, after Dusty Rhodes runs
in to save Raven and Styles from Jarrett, Abyss, and Red Shirt Security.
Next week's TNA Pay Per View already has these matches booked:
- Fan's Revenge Match(???): Dusty Rhodes vs. Jeff Jarrett
- Raven vs. Joe E. Legend & Kevin Northcutt
- NWA X Championship: Sonjay Dutt vs. Michael Shane(c)
- 3 Live Kru vs. Simon/Swinger/Gilberti
And in two weeks, you can probably expect this:
- NWA Championship: AJ Styles vs. Jeff Jarrett(c)
- NWA Tag Team Championship: 3LK vs. AMW vs. Simon & Swinger
- Jimmy Hart Updates Us On Glory By Honor.
So TNA remains the best pure wrestling show, and the best as far as angle
advancement. But the WWE is finally starting to get things right, I have
to admit. Survivor Series came off without a hitch, the buildup to Armageddon
looks great, especially with a strong possibility of Goldberg vs. Kane. Not
to mention that the Wrestlemania Buildup has started as well.
So there's the Week In Review, and a look at the next couple weeks. If you
