Final Battle 2003
    December 31st, 2003
Written By: Big Rob

This past Saturday, December 27, 2003, the Infamous Jew and myself attended Ring of Honor's "Final Battle 2003" from the Pennsylvania National Guard Armory, as well as the convention that day at the same location, both featuring stars of RoH and All Japan Pro Wrestling performing in front of the largest RoH crowd ever at over 1,500 strong.

The convention was more of an autograph session followed by a short card. The stars of All Japan were in attendance to sign autographs.

Results of the Convention Card:

Sumie Sakai defeated Allison Danger of The Prophecy in an entertaining women's match. After the match CM Punk hit the ring, running off both women and saying that he would find out who attacked Lucy at Wrath of the Racket, even calling out the Great Muta.
Josh Daniels defeated the debuting Puma in an exciting bout, mildly impressing the Philly crowd.

Dunn & Marcos, the Ring Crew Express, were to take on everyone's favorite homosexual duo, Buff-E and Mase, The Christopher Street Connection, in CSC's return to RoH, but the match never started due to CM Punk. Dunn & Marcos tried to take out Punk, but Punk ran them off. CSC then hit the ring, and Buff-E challenged Punk to a match against Mase. Punk won the match when he hit the Pepsi Plunge.

Special K's Hydro won a competitive four corners survival match over Slyk Wagner Brown, Nick F'n Gage, and Oman Turtuga. Special K began to Rave in the ring until The Carnage Crew (Loc, DeVito and Justin Credible) broke it up, thus starting the next match.

Special K vs. Carnage Crew No DQ was stopped by the Pennsylvania State Athletic Commission. A brutal and bloody match, in my opinion it should have been allowed to continue.

Trent Acid defeated an impressive Sonjay Dutt in an excellent match that saw Sonjay Dutt get a larger post match ovation than the victor.

The Briscoes defeated SAT in an excellent tag team match to retain the RoH tag team titles. The match saw many high spots, including a breathtaking Shooting Star Press by Mark Briscoe from the top to the outside on Joel Maximo. The show concluded with a standoff in the ring between the Briscoes and their opponents for the tag titles on 1/10, Bryan Danielson and RoH World Champion Samoa Joe.

Results for "Final Battle 2003":

The show was divided into 2 halves, with the first half being RoH matches and the second half RoH vs. All Japan.

American Dragon Bryan Danielson defeated Jay Briscoe in an excellent opening match with the Cattle Mutilation.

John Walters defeated Xavier in a show-stealing Fight Without Honor that saw the use of tables, ladders, and chairs, and lots of blood. Some of the highlights include Xavier's 450 splash off the top rope to the outside on Walters through a table, and Xavier hitting a split legged moonsault off the middle of the top rope onto the outside on Walters who was lying on a ladder bridged between the ring and the barricade. Walters got the pin when he hit a sunset flip off the top of the ladder on Xavier, driving Xavier through the broken ladder and a chair that were propped up in the corner. The match drew 4 Holy Shit chants. After the match, Prince Nana joined the two in the ring. In a shocker, Xavier showed Walters respect and shook his hand, signifying his leaving the Prophecy. He joined Nana's new stable, The Embassy

Matt Stryker defeated BJ Whitmer in the finals of the Field of Honor, completing a 4-0 run in the field for Stryker. This was a horrible match.

Bill Apter of Total Wrestling magazine presented RoH owner Rob Feinstein with an award for "Classiest Promotion of the Year", only to be interrupted by CM Punk. Punk said he would ruin the show unless he found out who attacked Lucy.

Samoa Joe defeated Mark Briscoe in a stiff, hard-hitting contest. Because of this victory, the 1/10 Briscoes vs. Samoa Joe/Danielson tag match will be for the tag titles. As Samoa Joe was celebrating his victory, CM Punk hit the ring. After a stand off, Joe left the ring, only to run into the Prophecy. A brawl ensued, and Joe and Dan Maff brawled into the back, Colt Cabana then ran out to assist Punk in beating down Daniels in the ring. As Cabana held Daniels, Punk choked Allison Danger and threatened to kill her if Daniels didn't tell him who attacked Lucy. Out of nowhere BJ Whitmer hit the ring with a chair, and chased off the saints. Daniels then announced that Whitmer was the new Prophecy member, and the Lucy attacker.

The second half of the show kicked off with RoH's Second City Saints of Colt Cabana and CM Punk defeating All Japan's Tomiaoki Honma and Kazushi Miyamoto.

AJ Styles defeated Kaz Hayashi in an excellent match, featuring at least 5 moves I have never seen before.

Satoshi Kojima defeated Homicide in another hard hitting, back-and-forth bout.

The Great Muta and Arashi defeated the Prophecy of Christopher Daniels and Dan Maff. The roof almost blew off when Muta hit the Shining Wizard for the pin.

Another great showing by RoH, and the future only looks brighter as the promotion reaches its 2-year anniversary.
