Project-based learning often times presents a better picture than traditional subjective tests when gauging how well a student grasped the themes and ideas within a text. It is with that in mind that I present a number of projects that can be administered in the closing weeks of the Esperanza Rising unit. All of these projects can be adapted to be either individual or group tasks, and most of them are best when combines with some kind of oral presentation of the students' work.
