Welcome to the Greatness of America!
As with any new website, construction takes time. Most links are currently non-functional. The home page should be viewed as a "table of contents" or a snapshot of what you'll find here. Primary external sites will appear as links in the side bar to the right after being verified as live sites. Where the document is available as a PDF that indicates the source, the link is to the PDF document.
The "greatness of America" is about more than her status today as a superpower, or the even territory encompassed by her borders. It is a phrase that encompasses the ideals, values, people, and history of America. Not olnly that, the phrase refers to the sacrifices our ancestors, relatives, neighbors and friends have made in service to each other, to the nation and the world. Reflected in her greatness are the farmers, laborers, educators and those who have come to her shores with hope to build a new life.
Simply put, the greatness of America is her ability to adapt and grow as the world around her changes, without putting aside the human elements so important to that growth and change. She may collectively "forget", but she eventually returns to the shining examples that have been set by the noblest of her citizens - past, present, and those who represent her future citizens.
The purpose of these pages is to remind, inform, reflect on, and interest visitors in learning more about the elements that comprise the Greatness of America. To that end, the site will include guest articles and photographs to help all of us learn more. Full guidelines regarding submission will be available within the appropriate sections as they are ready to accept material.
To better explore the greatness of America, the guiding principle is she never stopped being great - she's only a bit dusty. Please understand, this site is not a place for political candidates to campaign. While current events will be explored in various articles and other materials offered for your consideration, the discussion should be viewed as a lens on history and for history to be a lens on current events.
