Of all the traditional, most popular christmas songs sung today,
“O Little Town Of Bethlehem” is certainly one of the hymns
christmas just wouldn’t be the same without.
Unless they were looking at the sheet music, most people
probably wouldn’t realize that the lyrics, which are as
beautiful as the music, end with a prayer that Christ would
enter in and abide with each of us—making the song
appropriate for year-round use (although I’m sure
few of us would think to do so).
This arrangement is designed more for
congrgational singing than for contemplative
listening, but you may find it works well both ways.
