Yin Yang – The Balance in the Universe

Nature is based on opposites

Everything in nature is divided into yin and yang. The universe is based on the opposition and cooperation of these two powers, these two energies, and these two principles.

Yin and Yang are two opposite and composite forces. This unity and opposition gives the world a diverse character.

Yang is everything that is hot, outwardly oriented, and active. Yang is the male principle of the universe.

Yin is everything that is cold, passive, and inwardly oriented. Yin is the female principle of the universe.

Yin is manifested in the centripetal power. Yang appears as the centrifugal power. Summer is Yang. Winter is Yin. Spring and autumn are transitory states between Yin and Yang.

The ideal state of things in the physical universe, as well as in the world of humans, is a state of harmony represented by the balance of Yin and Yang in body and mind.

Balance is needed for good health

Just like in the outer world, Yin and Yang are also present in the inner world of man. People are put together by these two forces Yin and Yang. When these two forces are in harmony, then a human being is also in harmony. We call this condition health.

A human being has energetic channels through which energy is flowing. Stagnation of energy (Yin) or extreme energetic tension (Yang) gives us negative moments and is reflected in our organs. A long period of stagnation leads to illness. Every illness is a distortion of energy.

When Yin and Yang are put in balance, all illnesses disappear and medicines become unnecessary. If you keep your energies in balance after you are cured, you will stay healthy.

In nature, the energy level is variable — sometimes it is higher, sometimes lower.

The Interrelationship of Yin-Yang

Opposites are complementary

Any given frame of reference can be divided into Yin-Yang pairs (i.e., pairs of opposite factors). Planet Earth is divided into oceans and land masses. Life forms are mobile or immobile, warm-blooded or cold-blooded.

Absolute Yin and Yang do not exist. There is always some degree of the opposite contained in anything that exists, no matter how extreme the degree of Yin or Yang. It is a condition for the existence of anything that there always must be some degree of both Yin and Yang qualities present.

Yin is complementary to Yang and vice versa. There does not exist any antagonism between opposites in nature. They are always complementary.

The normal, healthy, functional, durable existence of everything in nature depends on the mutual enhancement and beneficial interaction of opposite forces (day and night, summer and winter, work and rest, man and woman).

On one level, when there is an antagonistic relationship between opposites, this leads to destruction. However, from the larger perspective, the balance of nature is always maintained.

Yin nourishes, sustains, and controls Yang; and vice versa. Each thing depends upon its opposite in order to exist. Thus Yin creates Yang and Yang creates Yin.

Opposites hold each other in balance and exert mutual control on each other.

The circle of life

Everything in the physical world has an opposite. There are no absolutes in the manifest universe.

Birth is followed eventually by death, economic boom by recession. There are no advantages without some disadvantages. There are no disadvantages without some advantages.

Yin attracts Yang and Yang attracts Yin. The greater the difference, the greater is the attraction.

Yin repels Yin and Yang repels Yang. The greater the similarity, the greater is the repulsion.

Yin gradually changes into Yang and vice versa. Spring into summer, summer into autumn, autumn into winter and winter into spring.

At the extremes of Yin or Yang, there is great instability, and the change from one opposite to the other is rapid and inharmonious.

Normal physiological conditions require the avoidance of extremes of Yin and Yang. The body can only resist within a narrow range of temperature, atmospheric pressure, oxygen content of the air, etc.

One can develop tolerance to extremes only by gradually introducing them to the body, but there are still definite limitations to the body’s tolerance to extreme conditions.

Each Yang factor can be further subdivided into a pair of Yin-Yang factors. Each Yin or Yang factor may also be further subdivided in the same way.
