Big Bang Attack

Type: Beam
Used by putting one's hand to a 90 degree angle of the wrist, the Big Bang is a slow moving, highly destructive attack. It can cause major damage and does not take very long to charge.

Bukujutsu

(Fly)

First Used By: Tsuru-sennin
Color: N/A
Type: Maneuvering
With the concentration of ki energy, it allows the Z warriors to defy gravity and soar through the heavens. Almost every major character has this talent.

Bunkai Teleportation

(Instantaneous Movement)

First Used By: Janemba
Color: N/A
Type: Maneuvering
Janemba's unique way of changing locations, also known as the "Cube Fade." This teleportation differs from Kai Kai and Shunkan Idou in that Janemba shifts between dimensions rather than manipulating time.

Burning Attack

First Used By: Trunks

Type: Projectile
Even though the move is very flashy, it's relatively weak. The Burning Attack is primarily used as a distraction (say from...Trunks' sword). It's slow, weak, and easy to see. Perfect for shifting attention from a real threat.

Death Ball

First Used By: Frieza
Color: Orange
Type: Projectile
A staple of Frieza, he uses this attack repeatedly. It's a spectacular attack, growing from a singular point into a ball the size of a small moon. Unfortunately, it also moves with the speed of a small moon. It easily has enough energy to obliterate a planet.

Diving X

First Used By: Namu

Type: Melee
Namu's most devastating move, the Diving X is performed by putting one's forearms into an X formation and diving onto an opponent (the name says it all). This move is rather painful to watch, as usually Namu strikes the head or neck.

Dodonpa

First Used By: Tsuru-sennin

Type: Beam
One of Tao Pie Pie's favorite moves, the Dodonpa is a narrow beam of energy with a very large head. It competes power-wise with the Kamehameha.

Final Flash

First Used By: Vegeta
Color: Yellow
Type: Beam
An ability unique to Vegeta, it is quite similar to the Kamehameha (although taking much longer to charge and causing more damage over a larger area). It is somewhat slow moving, but one of the most powerful attacks in the series.

Fusion

First Used By: Trunks and Goten

When two warriors find that they are overwhelmed by a greater power, they have little choice but to fuse into one. This is done by performing the fusion dance, which when done correctly, will create a being that is much more powerful than the two subjects. The dance is fairly simple: both subjects side step towards each other with identical movements while saying the word "Fusion." When they get next to each other they tough index fingers. The fused warrior takes on the characteristics of both involved, but usually looks more like one than the other.

Gekitotsu Ultra Buu Buu Volley Ball

First Used By: Gotenks (Piccolo helps kick it around)

Probably the longest name for an attack in the series. This particular Gotenks conception involves crushing the target into a sphere of energy and kicking the ball like it was the World Cup in Brazil. It inflicts a tremendous amount of pain...if the target survives it.

Genki-dama

(Spirit Bomb)

First Used By: Goku
Color: Blue-white
Type: Projectile By borrowing a tiny bit of energy from all living things on a planet or in a planetary system, Goku can create a devastating ball of energy that obliterates anything with an "evil" Ki. It takes a very, very long time to charge up. Characters with "good" Ki can manipulate the Genki-dama after it has been gathered without the fear of being harmed themselves.

Henka Beam

Type: Beam
When you just can't wait to get to the candy store. This is one of Buu's unique attacks that give him a burst of power. Basically, he converts a target into some sort of food item (usually candy) and devours them, absorbing their energy.

Henshin

(Transforming)

Type: Power-up
When a being runs into an opponent it cannot defeat in its original self, it often transforms into a more powerful state. This process usually takes a long time, and wastes a lot of energy. Creatures that do have the ability to transform avoid it, because the shape shifting puts a lot of strain on their bodies.

Hikou

(Fly)

First Used By: Androids
Color: N/A
Type: Maneuvering
Hikou is the ability to fly around without the use of Ki. Only the androids can do this.

Kai Kai

(Instantaneous Movement)

First Used By: Dai-Kaioshin
Color: N/A
Type: Maneuvering
The ability of a creature to move from one location to another without the passage of time. The difference between this technique and Shukan Idou is that Kai Kai does not require a Ki target. Some especially powerful magicians are capable of teleporting other people as well.

Kaio-ken

First Used By: Goku
Color: Red
Type: Power-up
Devised by the North Kaio (who cannot even perform it himself), the Kaio-ken is a powering technique that enables a person to move faster and hit harder. The technique must be used sparingly however; as the more it is used the more the body of caster becomes damaged

Kamehameha

First Used By: Kame-sennin
Color: Blue-white
Type: Beam
Devised by Mutenroshi, the Kame Hame Ha is an extension of one's Ki that is expelled through one's hands. Hand position is generally in the shape of an open clam. The direction of the blast can be controlled in mid-air, and combined with other techniques becomes quite devastating.

Kienzan

(Destructo Disk)

First Used By: Krillin
Color: Yellow (Krillin), Purple (Frieza)
Type: Projectile
A flat, circular plane of energy, a Kienzan can cut through almost any surface. It has this ability because, like a knife, its edge is very thin. Although the person using this technique generally has more success when they have a higher power level, it also allows weak adversaries to take out strong ones in a single blow. Frieza's Kienzans home in on their targets, while Krillin's can split into several smaller disks after being launched.

Kikoho

First Used By: Tien
Color: Yellow
Type: Beam
Tien's signature move, it is performed by shaping one's hands into a triangle. It sacrifices the life force of who is casting it in order to boost the attack's strength. Almost impossible to dodge, it is similar to the Taiyoken, but affects a smaller radius and is much more concentrated.

Kousengan

(Eye Lasers)

First Used By: Piccolo
Color: Red (Piccolo), Purple (Frieza and Cooler)
Type: Beam
Very thin and concentrated, this technique is used to make a precise hit on a target and do major damage. It has a limited range, but moves very fast.

Kuukanteni Punch

First Used By: Janemba
Color: N/A
Type: Melee
Another unique Janemba move. He creates a small hole in space and time with an entrance and an exit. This allows him to sock his enemies from afar without moving his entire body.

Kyushyu

(Assimilation)

First Used By: Buu
Color: N/A
Type: Merging
The act of absorbing another's body in order to use its strength and energy. Creatures that assimilate take the characteristics of their victim, and any of their abilities. Power increases exponentially rather than additively. For instance, when Cell absorbs #17, it's more like Cell x #17 rather than Cell + #17 (Not exactly, but you get the point). The downside is that weaknesses are also carried over to the host. Most of the time, the process is reversible.

Mafuba

First Used By: Mutaito-sennin
Color: Green
Type: Area
Sacrifices the life of the user to trap a demon within a denshi jar. Both Kame-sennin and Kami-sama try to use this on Piccolo. Kame fails and dies, Kami fails and has the attack reversed on him.

Makankosappo

(Special Beam Cannon)

First Used By: Piccolo
Color: Yellow
Type: Beam
A highly condensed beam of energy; the Makankosappo can pierce the strongest of armor. It is cast by putting ones first two fingers on the forehead. The makankosappo is faster than a bullet, but takes a few minutes to charge to a reasonable strength.

Masenko

First Used By: Gohan
Color: Yellow
Type: Beam
Basically Gohan's version of the Kame Hame Ha, the only difference is that it is charged above the head and hurled like a soccer throw

Mind Control

First Used By: Bibidi

Type: Other
The ability to bend others to one's will. In the manga, only Bibidi and his son are capable of controlling others. However, the target must have evil in their hearts, or else controlling them is impossible (Vegeta had reached a stage where good and evil were balanced within him, and thus Babidi could not take full control).

Oozaru

When exposed to the light of a full moon, a Saiya-jin involuntarily transforms into a giant monkey-like beast. While in this form the Saiya-jin's power is greatly increased. There are two ways to reverse it, one is to chop off the tail, and the other is to get rid of the source of moonlight.

Power Absorption

First Used By: Android #19 and #20

Type: Power-up
Since android #19 and #20 do not contain internal power supplies, they must rely on absorbing the ki energy of others through two red receptors on the palms of their hands. This allows them to fight as long as there is someone to steal power from.

Power Ball

With the moon long since destroyed (twice), Vegeta had to find a new way to change into an Oozaru. The power ball emits light similar to the light produced by a full moon. This allows Vegeta to transform whenever he pleases. And yes, that's the official name of the technique according to the Daizenshuu.

Renzoku Senkoudan

First Used By: Piccolo
Color: Blue-green
Type: Projectile
This attack surrounds the enemy with dozens of Ki packets, which then collapse upon the poor target. This let s all the energy hit at the same time, rendering it very powerful.

Rocket Punch

First Used By: Android #16

Type: Projectile
A devastating ranged attack of Android #16; the rocket punch packs an incredible force. The hand does not explode on contact, and can be re-attached after firing.

Ryuken

First Used By: Goku
Color: Gold
Type: Melee
Goku's ferocious dragon fist, capable of piercing the toughest of enemies. A golden dragon is unleashed by this powerful attack, which then proceeds to tear his enemy apart. Goku uses the Ryuken in movie #13 and DBGT.

Sai Sei

(Regeneration)

Type: Other
Although most species can heal themselves over time, few can grow limbs or heal themselves in an instant. This technique, known as "saisei," enables a being to restore them to full health, although often this process lowers their power level significantly.

Sekikatsuba

First Used By: Dabura
Color: Grey
Type: Projectile
Dabura spits a deadly substance out of his mouth that turns the target into stone. The process reverses if Dabura is killed.

Shunkan Idou

(Instantaneous Movement)

Type: Maneuvering
The ability of a creature to move from one location to another without the passage of time. This particular technique requires a person to lock on to. Anyone touching the subject when they are phasing to a new location will be teleported as well.

Super Ghost Kamikaze Attack

First Used By: Gotenks

Type: Spawn
One of Gotenks' many ridiculous attacks, this one is fairly creative. Gotenks launches several ghost clones of himself that destroy themselves upon contact with another person (or each other). Unfortunately, the clones are unbelievably stupid. The explosion packs quite a wallop, enough to cripple Buu.

Super Saiya-jin [SSJ]

First Used By: Legendary Super Saiya-jin
Color: N/A
Type: Power-up
A highly powerful form; Super Saiya-jin is only released with intense rage by a Saiya-jin with a pure heart (Good or evil). During this state, the Saiya-jin's hair will turn bright blond in color, and the eyes become a greenish-blue tone. Half human, half Saiya-jin hybrids tend to go SSJ at a younger age than pure bloods.

Ultra Super Saiya-jin [USSJ]

First Used By: Trunks or Vegeta

A sort of mid-level between SSJ and SSJ2, USSJ is a very strong, yet very slow form. It takes a long time to attain, and produces a lot of stress on the muscles causing them to vastly increase in size.

Super Saiya-jin 2 [SSJ2]

First Used By: Gohan
Color: N/A
Type: Power-up
An extremely powerful state; SSJ2 is even more damaging than the ultra-buff USSJ, without the hit in speed and maneuverability. It is characterized by bolts of electricity that streak around and through whoever reaches this level. Hair becomes more rigid, otherwise there's very little difference from SSJ.

Super Saiya-jin 3 [SSJ3]

First Used By: Goku

Type: Power-up
Another leap in power level occurs when someone attains SSJ3. This transformation alters the body somewhat; the eyebrows disappear and the Saiya-jin's hair grows thick, full, and VERY long.

Super Saiya-jin 4 [SSJ4]

Type: Power-up
The most powerful transformation in the three series. This form renders the subject a half-ape with pink fur. There are endless debates on whether this is a true SSJ level, but we're going to have to go with common consensus and say that it is. And no, there is no SSJ5

Taiyoken

(Solar Flare)

Color: Bright White
Type: Area
Cast by fanning ones hands over the face. Generates a tremendous amount of light, temporarily blinding any nearby enemies. It's a fairly easy trick, and many of the Z warriors use it.

Telepathy

First Used By: Dai-Kaioshin
Color: N/A
Type: Other
The ability to communicate long-distance using one's mind. It does not provide any control over the target.

Thunder Flash

First Used By: Pikkon
Color: Orange
Type: Blast
A very powerful fire attack launched from the fists. Pikkon uses this against Goku in the Heavens Tournament.

Zanzoken

(Blurring)

First Used By: Kame-sennin
Color: N/A
Type: Maneuvering
Dematerializing and quickly moving to another spot close by. Leaves a silhouette of the person for a short period of time in their original location, causing the "blur" effect. Most major characters in the series have this ability.
