Carrithers
Mr. Eugene S. Carrithers, brother of Mrs. Graham Lawrence and Miss Bettie Carrithers, of Shelbyville, died Monday at noon at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Frank Souther,in Los Angeles,Calif. as a result of a fall that
fractured his hip a week ago.
Mr. Carrithers was seventy-two years of age, a native of this county and the only son of the late A. P. Carrithers, prominent farmer and magistrate of this county for several terms.
In 1880 he left for the west and located in Kansas City. Nine years later he married Miss Kate Glessner, of Butler, Mo. For quite a number of years Mrs. Carrithers suffered ill health and in an effort to regain her health the family moved to Colorado and later to Idaho without avail. Her death occurred in 1909.
His old friends still remaining here at his old home recall him as one of the most popular one among them. All were his friends and remained so to the end. During his return home visits from time to time all were glad to meet their old friend again.
The funeral services were held at the home of his daughter in Los Angeles.
The body was taken to Butler, Mo. cemetery for burial beside his wife.
