Guides work together in small groups called patrols to work for Go For It's. This involves the group selecting a number of activities to do on a theme such as fitness, party planner, healthy eating. The guides also have the opportunity to work for interest badges either individually or in groups. There is a wide range of badges to chose from - agility, chocolate, camper, water safety circus skills. After each year at guides a girl is eligable for a challenge badge. In addition to working for badges the guides also enjoy playing games, having cookouts, taking part in themed activity meetings such as to link with the Olympic games and have the opportunity to camp. The highest award a guide can achieve is her Baden Powell award. To start this she must have been a guide for two years and she has to set herself a series of challenges across a number of areas. This often involves running activities for the younger girls either in her own unit or by helping with Rainbows or Brownie meetings. Guides have been involved in community action projects with Friends of Roundhay Park helping to tidy the park up. Guides also go camping either with just their own unit or at a larger county camp like Zoom 2002. Several units in the district have also been abroad most recently to France.
