Henry came to America with his parents at the age of nine on board the ship R.M.S. City of Baltimore from Liverpool, England to New York. At age 11 Henry first began working in the coal mines where he labored for the next 71 years until he retired at age 82. He worked primarily in the mines of Pennsylvania - Cambria, Indiana, and Clearfield counties - but also worked briefly in Maryland, Alabama, and Illinois mines. Henry was buried at Lloyd Cemetery in Ebensburg, PA.
