Maree was born Marie Rosalie but had her name changed to the the above spelling when her kindergarten teacher suggested spelling it with the "Irish spelling". She attended Shippensburg State Teachers College and graduated in 1937 with a Bachelor of Science degree - and having met her future husband. Maree taught for several years at Woodbury High School (English, French, Latin, and Home Economics) in Woodbury, PA until she married in 1940. Her married life took her to Elizabethtown and Seneca Falls, NY before returning to Waynesboro about 1945 and subsequently settling in Hagerstown, MD in September 1956. Maree lived there until January 1996 when she moved to Oakton, Fairfax Co., VA. She died at Fair Oaks Hospital in Fairfax, VA and was buried at Green Hill Cemetery in Waynesboro, PA.
