| On behalf of the Southwest High School Music Department, welcome to the 2005-06 school year. We at Southwest High School pride ourselves on striving for excellence in music through teamwork, respect, and dedication. Our music department coordinates joint concerts and shares students across the ensembles. There are many extracurricular opportunities such as Jazz Band, Show Choir, Symphony, Musical, Pops Concert, and a variety of community performances..
The Music Parents Association supports the music department through fundraising, and volunteer work with music events. The organization also raises funds and provides assistance to the school�s Music Department. We are hopeful that our note campaign will generate enough funds to eliminate the need for other general fund-raising efforts. Please complete the attached form and return with your donation of money and/or time. We invite all parents of music students to attend our meetings from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. in the Music Theory/Computer Lab on the second Thursday of each month � except December and May, which are concert months. At our first meeting � Sept. 9 � we will discuss the trip to NYC and the fund-raisers we have planned to help your child(ren) earn money for the trip. A special note to freshman parents, the Music Parents Association is a great way to participate in a meaningful way with your child�s school and his or her involvement in band, choir and/or orchestra.
