Music Parents
Fund Raisers
Fund-raising opportunities:

The Southwest Music Parents Association sets up student accounts for each music student to give them the option to raise funds for upcoming trips or for various items related to their music studies in high school. When a student leaves the music program or graduates, he/she has several choices if there is money remaining in the account. The student can use the money on a teacher-approved music-related item; request that the money be transferred to a siblings account; request that the money is donated to a specific cause in the music department; donate the money to the Music Parents general fund. If a student does not choose one of these options, the money is deposited in the Music Parents general fund.

Fund-raiser 1: Flowers (Sept. 20 until Oct. 22: Student sells card for $20, with a $10 profit. The card entitles the bearer to one free bouquet of flowers each month for 12 months from Summerplace Garden, 2202 Ridge Road. )

Fund-raiser 2: Bathworks and chocolate gifts (Oct. 5. This fund-raiser, which lasts about one week, is similar to one from a couple of years ago that raised quite a bit of money. There are two small brochures of products. We are working with Jeff Peterson of Great American Opportunities.)

Fund-raiser 3: Cookie dough in 3-pound tubs (Nov. 8. This is the same fund-raiser the band program held the past two years, which also was quite successful. This is another week-long fund-raiser with Jeff Peterson.)

Fund-raiser 4: uncertain, possibly magazines.

Ongoing fund-raiser 1: Hershey candy bars (through Jeff Peterson, beginning in October. Reeses peanut butter cups, Kit Kat bars, Hershey chocolate bars, Hershey bars with almonds. The students sells them for $1 each, earning 50 percent profit. Student must purchase by the case. Each bar has $1 coupon for 12-inch Subway sub sandwich.)

Ongoing fund-raiser 2: SW Music Department apparel (long-sleeve t-shirts, short-sleeve t-shirts, polo shirts and hooded sweatshirts available great for pep band students. Proceeds go to Music Parents general fund.)

Please note: Students are not required to participate in any fund-raiser. These are options for students wishing to raise money for the upcoming trip or other music purchases.
