I've been back from a 5-days trip to Seoul (29/Oct - 2 Nov).
Again I'm not joining any tour and travelled all the way myself.
In Seoul, it wasn't easy to locate a HSBC branch with ATMs.
Frankly looking for Standard Chartered (SC) was far more easier, its occurence is five times
over HSBC, even CitiBank's coverage is less than than SC, they were still a bit more than HSBC.
I went through those famous spot such as Dongdaemun (Fj), Myeong Dong (}), Hongik University (j),
Ewha Womens University/Sinchon (j/s), Itaewon(), Lotte World (֤ѥ@), Anguk (x}),
Apgujeon (ëF), Hyehwa (f), Gangnam COEX-MALL (n).
The place I found HSBC Branch was Apgujeong, a high-class residental and shopping district. It wasn't
surpised that HSBC decided to open a branch here to attract clients which have strong economical basis
and consuming power.

I've been back from a trip to Tokyo again (20/Feb - 25 Feb).
With the experience I gained during last year
visit,
this time I went through those famous spot such as Shimokitazawa (U_沢),
Jiyugaoka (ۥがC), Naka-Meguro (黒), Kichijyoji (Nx), Shiodome (d),
Roppongi (), Daiba (x), Yokohama (横浜).
Of course we won't miss the most popular shopping paradise such as: Shinjuku (sJ),
Harajuku (J), Shibuya (渉) and Dai-Kan Yama (Ncs).
This year my main focus is still Shopping, plus a few site-seeing for places that are recommended
by most common tourist guide, with this year journey, I've finally completed my goal to visit
all the popular spot surrounded by the major railyway line - JR Yamanote Line (su).
You may wonder why I didn't chose to visit Hokkoido (_D) or Okinawa (R縄), certainly there are
some private reasons behind, but......
Anyway I do enjoy the journey, at the time I am on the plane back to Hong Kong, I am already thinking
about my next trip to Japan - A Skiing Porject in Naeba (]).

Recently, I've finished a software project which aims at doing
encryption, for some security measure and platform dependency,
the programming language being chosen is Visual Basic 6, and
of source, the IDE would certainly be Visual Studio 6.
To be frank, this is my first time having such an intensive usage on
VB, during the coding phase, I finally understood that why Visual Basic
is never being taught in courses of most Universities, and I learnt a great
deal about the major weakness of the language, as well as other issues
which explain many problems of the language itself.
Anyway I do respect that Microsoft is really a great enterprise and
the people who are faithful fans of Visual Basic, moreover I do not
have the experience of .NET which is claimed to be a much more powerful
language than JAVA (is that for real?).
Here I tried to list my feelings about VB:
-
Weak API
If compared with JAVA; Simply think about doing a substring by VB, painful huh~?
-
Prodcedural Language
Jusr if you well understand the goodness of Object Oriented...
-
IDE dependency
Try if you could use notepad to create VB Applications.
-
Closed Platform
Java software can be easily transformed to other forms of applications
such as Applet, JAR, Java Beans which simplify the effort for web deployment.
I believe the four criteria discussed above is adequate to proof the weakness of VB (though
more could be listed), since they are actually the most significant factors explaining
that why JAVA is always identified as a better programming language by the commercial or
academic community.
Luckily my complain about VB above is posted only on this website, if this is posted on a forum
with quite a large volume of visitors, it would certainly raise a war for the VB fans and Java fans
to debate which programming language is better. This is a never ending argument cause both VB.Net
and Java are complex technology and it would obviously spent you quite a long time (perhaps your life
time?) to finish the study.
In fact, I've referenced an article from CNET news (an interview with Java founders - James Gosling) on
my BLOG, click

to read it if you are interested.
