Study @ HKBU x UNISA
HKBU - SCE Hong Kong Baptist University is the place where I entried the world of computer, I joined as a part-time student since year 1999.

Starting from Certificate Level, then Diploma, I finally enrolled the Bachelor of Computing (Electronic Commerce) which is offered in Hong Kong in collaboration by HKBU and University of South Australia (UNISA).

The program features a combination of high quality self-study materials, reading booklets, regular local tutorial sessions, teaching and academic support from UniSA division staff.

The Bachelor of Computing (Electronic Commerce) provides students with a broad understanding of the theory and practice of computing, marketing and business as required to implement e-commerce solutions for a diversity of organizations who wish to do business on internet. It consists of core courses in computer science, internet technologies, web based information systems, marketing, business, and specialist subjects relating to e-commerce. The programme prepares students with marketable skills in e-commerce.

The BComp (E-Commerce) is a 108-unit programme comprising of 24 courses. Students are required to complete the following 16 courses (72 units) for the degree programme.

  • Java Programming Laboratory (JPL)
  • Introduction to Law (LAW)
  • Marketing Principle (MKT)
  • Statistical Analysis in Business (SAB)
  • Object-Oriented Data Modelling (OODM)
  • Object-Oriented Software Development
  • Object and Algorithm (OA)
  • Intelligent System Technology (IST)
  • Software Development Process Management (SDPM)
  • Database Technology (DBT)
  • Inter-Enterprise Computing (IEC)
  • Maintenance and Re-engineering (MR)>>/li>
  • Information Security (IS)
  • Component Engineering (CE)
  • Business Process Re-engineering for E-commerce (BPRE)
  • E-Commerce Technology (ECT)
The School of Computer and Information Science, UniSA conducts major Programme Review every 5 years to ensure all programmes are up to date and meet the professional requirements. The new programme structure which is more relevant to e-commerce has been implemented in March 2006:

  • Java Programming Laboratory (JPL) renamed to Java as a Second Language (JSL)

  • Object-Oriented Data Modelling (OODM) renamed to Data Modelling and Database Design (DMDD)

  • Object-Oriented Software Development renamed to Object Oriented Software Engineering (OOSE)

  • Object and Algorithm (OA) replaced by User Interfaces (UI)

  • Intelligent System Technology (IST) replaced by Introduction to E-Business (IEB)

  • Software Development Process Management (SDPM) renamed to Information Systems Project Management (ISPM)

  • Component Engineering (CE) replaced by Information Technology Strategy and Management (ITSM)
Though the program is to be more concentrated on the E-Business aspect rather than computer science/engineering, some of the courses are really interesting and hereby attached some of the product created during team project or individual assignment.
