| Fredrik Jakobsson, one of just a few Blades fans from Sweden, tells his story about his most recent visit to England, to watch the Blades take on Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park... |
| One of my best soccer-moments ever! |
| This week I had the opportunity to see my beloved Sheffield United for the third time in my life. And what a day it turned out to be!
My English could be better, but I will do my best to describe the positive feelings that I have in my mind after this Saturday when we smashed Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park in front of an ocean of red and white fans. That's how I experienced it anyway. I came to London last Wednesday with three of my friends, all of them football-fanatics. One of them is a fan of Arsenal, another has Liverpool as his team and the third one has a hard time at the moment as he supports Norwich. Noone of them were that keen on going to Selhurst Park, but after some persuading I got the Arsenal-fan with me. And I can say, he was very astonished by the atmosphere and the way we were playing. On the internet I asked if there would be any pub which the blades fans would be before the game. Ive got the answer Slug and lettuce just outside the Clapham Junction station in the south of London. And there we went, I felt really welcomed and for me it was a great experience just having a beer and talk Sheffield United with someone. In there I for example met a nice german guy who told me that he usually see five to eight games a season. After some beers it was time to take the train to Selhurst and there we went. The atmosphere was even before the match ten times better than the Highbury game between Arsenal and Sparta Prague I also watched this week. The fans never really stopped singing, and I just felt it was incredible. I have watched Stoke away a couple of years ago when Jack Lester put a penalty behind Ed de Goey in the 90 minute. That was a great moment too, but this cracking game was definitely something else. It seems like everyone in the team has been taking a step in the right direction, and here is my words of the players in the team against Crystal Palace. |

| Jagielka in the middle is pure class, so is Kabba in the front. Montgomery sometimes feels like he has legs of wood, but when he is playing as he should he makes a really good job. Ifill is also class, but seems to be a bit up and down. But his goal at Selhust Park was a classgoal. Quinn has been a surprise to me this season. He is fast and tricky! Shipperley did a good job and he seems to be a vital player on the pitch. Bromby is quite young and could definitely be a player in the premiership. In Morgan and Geary I have my doubts, Morgan is strong in the air, but I think that's it. Geary on the other hand fights really hard but I think he loses position to often. Unsworth is class, a bit slow but a player with his routine is of course valuable. Definitely a premiership-player. Our goalie Paddy Kenny made some good saves but also made some strange decisions which almost punished us. But I know what Paddy can do, I rate him highly!
Kenny 6 , Geary 5 , Morgan 6 , Bromby 7 , Unsworth 7 , Ifill 7 , Jagielka 8 , Montgomery 6 , Quinn 7 , Shipperley 7 , Kabba 8 . In Sweden, its a tough job having Sheffield United as a favourite team. Hardly noone mention us and you can probably count the true fans on two hands. If you are really lucky its possible to watch us on Swedish tv, but you have to be pleased if its twice a year. If we go up this year it will be totally different and the Blades will probably be in the footlights in a much nicer way! If you want to come in touch with us, a Swedish Blades-site is up where we write about our beloved club! Please come and visit the guestbook, which says 'gstbok' in Swedish! :) From a united-fan in Sweden. UTB Fredrik - [email protected] |

Sheffield Wedn*sday's fu*ked it up again! (Sung when the Pigs score gets found out on the Blades terraces). Are you Wedn*sday in disguise, arrre yooouuu Weeedn*sdaaay in disguise? If I had the wings of a sparrow, the dirty black arse of a crow, I'd fly over Hillsb*rough tomorrow, and sh*t on the bast*rds below! |
