THE TWILIGHT ZONE -
"TO PROTECT AND SERVE,"
EPISODE 15, NOVEMBER 6, 2002
ROLE DESCRIPTION: Gabrielle plays police officer Angela Perry. Angela is the partner of Eric Boggs, an idealistic cop played by Usher. Eric is determined to protect a hooker from a pimp whom he's already killed. He's been receiving calls and threats from beyond the grave, and Angela is naturally skeptical.

OVERALL IMPRESSIONS: The 2002 version of "The Twilight Zone" is one of my favorite series, and this was one of its better episodes. It was also a quick lesson to me as to how out of touch I am with today's music scene, as I actually had no idea who Usher was until watching it. Since watching this episode, I have learned that a mere half billion people or so knew who he was before I did. Usher does a pretty good job here as a cop who thinks he may be losing his mind, but Gabrielle was perfect as the voice of reason.

KUDOS TO GABRIELLE: This episode is a perfect example of why I'm such a fan of Gabrielle's work. Much like her role in "First Wave" episode "Susperience," this role is like nothing else she's done, and she's perfect in it. That may not sound like much until you try to count all of the actresses or actors about whom you can say "yep, he / she has done a lot of different roles, and done all of them well." It's tough to believe that the streetwise Angela Perry is played by the same actress that played a ridiculously cute flower child in "Sliders," a snotty teen party animal in "Highlander," a shy wallflower of a bank teller in "Inspectors 2: A Shred of Evidence," a hot mistress in "Due East," a flirty and threatening telekinetic in "First Wave," a southern belle homewrecker in "Floating Away," etc., and yet she's just great in all of these roles, especially in this episode.

APPEARING HERE AND ELSEWHERE WITH GABRIELLE: Danielle Evangelista, who played a prostitute in this episode, also played Julie McBride in two episodes of "Alienated" in which Gabrielle appears, "Good Advice" and "Sexual People." Dion Johnstone, who played Rigo Valentine in this episode, appeared in the "Breaking News" episode "I-24 Gate."
