TREES A CROWD
EPISODE 39 - TREES A CROWD: "No trick is too dirty in Brent and Hank's battle to take back their childhood tree house."

OVERALL IMPRESSIONS: This episode easily one of the top three of the season. One side plot, which I thought was the funniest one, had Wanda repeatedly escaping from a squad car despite Davis' claims that it's impossible. The second side plot, which was almost as funny, has Lacey trying to learn Kung Fu and proving to be less than a stellar student. A third side plot has Emma jealous when Oscar pays attention to another woman. The main plot has Hank and Brent trying to get their old tree house back from a gun-toting group of pre-teens. This wasn't even my favorite plot of the episode, but it was my better half's favorite one of the entire season.

MEMORABLE MOMENT: Karen taking down the dine-and-dasher after Davis fails to do so. The scene was extremely funny, and led to Lacey's Kung Fu studies.

MEMORABLE LINE: "I'm just going there over to fix her pipes" from Oscar to Emma. To "fix a woman's pipes" was one of my favorite uncle's most often-used euphemisms, and I had never heard it from anyone else until this episode.

KUDOS TO GABRIELLE: This is some of her best work of the year; almost every scene she's in is hilarious and she's usually responsible.

FUNNIEST LINE IN THIS EPISODE: "This Kung Fu bites" from Lacey, after yet another failed attempt to execute the one martial arts move she knows.

FUNNIEST SCENES IN THIS EPISODE:

1.) Brent helping Lacey open a jar. This was especially funny because after Lacey's Herculean struggle with the jar, Brent didn't even look up to open it. The look on Lacey's face when he does it is absolutely priceless.

2.) The way Davis flings his newspaper in the air as he takes off in pursuit of a dine-and-dasher.

3.) Davis sliding across the hood of a car in pursuit of the suspect. I'm not much for slapstick comedy, but this scene had me laughing like a hyena.

4.) When Brent tells a kid "You could have shot my eye out, " and the kid replies with "Yes, that is a risk."
5.) When Brent is about to leave the tree house but tells the kids not to mistake his departure for a victory.
6.) The way Lacey talks Oscar into attacking her.

7.) Lacey's "You did it wrong" after failing to stop Oscar's attack.

8.) Oscar's "Who put this sandwich here?" after Emma shows up to the Ruby.

9.) Wanda smacking her head on the roof of the squad car after saying "I'm smarter than the average"

10.) Davis walking into the Ruby and showing Wanda his new snow chains.

11.) Lacey's confident challenge to Davis, and the predictable failure which follows.

12.) Wanda's advice to Lacey of hooking Davis' elbow.

13.) When Emma goes off on Oscar about the spoon drawer.

14.) Oscar saying to Peggy "You remember little Brent" as he and Peggy were passing the tree house.

15.) Wanda being "neutralized" by Lacey's masterful Kung Fu.
