SECURITY CAM
EPISODE 21: SECURITY CAM - "Brent is surprised by what gets caught on tape when he installs a security camera at Corner Gas."

OVERALL IMPRESSIONS: Another top-notch episode in which all the plots work, and a great follow-up to "Hero Sandwich." Brent installs a security camera in the store and catches Wanda talking behind his back, Davis buys a new stun gun, Hank wants to get himself stunned by it, and Brent's parents go on a romantic getaway.

MEMORABLE MOMENT: Davis' "audition" when he says that the whole town is out of order.

MEMORABLE LINE: "Now, no more dirty talk. Hand me that big tool so I can mount this." from Brent.

FUNNIEST SCENES IN THIS EPISODE:

1.) The flashback to Davis using a riot shield.
2.) Karen's answer to and subsequent lecture on Lacey's asking what the odds are of a riot breaking out in Dog River.
3.) When Davis explains that he saved the department enough cash to buy his beloved new stun gun by buying bullet-resistant vests instead of bulletproof ones.
4.) Hank "freaking out" in an attempt to get himself zapped by Davis' stun gun.
5.) After Hank's proposal to lick the car battery to see if he can handle the charge. Davis says to Karen "pop the hood." This one got the loudest laugh of the episode from me, largely because of the way Davis says it.
6.) Brent looking at a security can tape and asking if he was looking at Meryl Streep.
7.) Karen's repeated remarks about Lacey's math skills.
8.) Karen's "subtle" hints to Hank about how to take care of the security camera and Hank's absolute inability to pick up on them.
9.) Davis practicing his "audition" lines with Karen and forgetting the last word.

BLOOPERS:
1.) At 9:01, watch the coffee cup between Wanda's hands - as the camera angle changes, it's in front of them, then between them and back in front of them again.

2.) At 15:18, Hank walks into Corner Gas and picks up a flower pot from a store shelf - an action which you can clearly hear. As Brent makes a crack about Hank "casing the joint," the camera angle switches back to Hank - who in a split second has put the pot back on the shelf without making a sound. This sort of dexterity is theoretically possible, but still highly unlikely from a man who can't determine without help that the security cam doesn't move.

3.) At 17:40, as Hank tries to blame Karen for his attempt to steal the security camera from Corner Gas, Davis decided to call Karen and check. His hand reaches the transmitter of his mobile radio too quickly for the scene.
