LIEBE AUF DEN 2. BLICK (LOVE AT SECOND SIGHT) - 1997
ROLE DESCRIPTION: Gabrielle plays Sarah Forrester, who works a dead-end job for the east side of a westbound horse, and is engaged to a thoroughly unsuccessful writer. When she lands a job as a stockbroker and starts making big money, she decides to strike out on her own.

The movie is a joint German-Canadian venture which I never would have even heard of if not for a post about it on Gabrielle's page at imdb.com. If you're looking for a copy of this movie, you'd be well advised to have some contacts in Germany - if not for having an entire gaggle of friends and relatives in Germany myself, I doubt I would have found it at all (my Canadian friends struck out entirely). It took the whole group of them about four months to scrape up the few copies they did.
OVERALL IMPRESSIONS: The movie is billed as a romantic comedy, and perhaps by German standards it is, but there really isn't much comedy involved. Still, the movie is better than average for its type despite the marginal-at-best acting of Skip Lackey and Mathias Kahle. Lori Triolo is outstanding as Sarah's boss at the brokerage, J.R. Bourne is just great in his limited role as the brokerage's receptionist (compare his role here to his usual roles as a bad guy), and Gabrielle absolutely excels in her starring role. A not insignificant bonus is that the soundtrack isn't anywhere near as annoying as what one would expect for this sort of movie.

KUDOS TO GABRIELLE: Gabrielle is superb in her role from start to finish, but particularly impressive were the following scenes:

1.) Sarah lighting into Kean because of a large phone bill.
2.) The way she portrayed Sarah quitting her dead-end job.
3.) Sarah's arguing with her fianc outside of her parents' house.
4.) Her job of acting drunk as Markus shows up in the bar and meets Sarah's boss.

Good luck finding a copy of this movie (and if you do, you'll likely need a multi-system DVD player to watch it), but if you're a fan of Gabrielle's it's well worth the effort to see how well she can handle a starring role.

APPEARING HERE AND ELSEWHERE WITH GABRIELLE: Christine Lippa, who plays Peggy, played Ms. Pierce in "In the Doghouse." Jessica Schreier, who plays Jane, played Marilyn Watson in the pilot episode of "Breaking News." Sarah-Jane Redmond, who plays Rachel, played Sarah-Blundell in the episodes of "Alienated" in which Gabrielle appears. Sarah Richardson, who plays Cynthia, played Juliana in "Madison" episode "Bad Girls." David Neale, who plays Darrell, played Sgt. Coolidge in "Video Voyeur: The Susan Wilson Story." David Lewis, who plays Dylan Andrews, played Ned Simon in "Voyage of Terror, Derek in "Pasadena" episode "The Truth Hurts," Dylan Andrews in "Liebe auf den 2. Blick" ("Love at Second Sight"), the redheaded guy in both episodes of "Da Vinci's Inquest" in which Gabrielle appears, an officer in "Breaking the Surface: The Greg Louganis Story," and Hubert Peterson in "The New Addams Family" episode "New Neighbors Meet the Addams Family." J.R. Bourne, who plays Gino the receptionist, played Stenn in "Jeremiah" episode "The Touch" and Keith Fitzgerald in "Breaking News" episode " Rachel Glass and the No Good, Very Bad Day." Based on various Internet sources, I also have reason to believe Bourne and Gabrielle appeared together in a mid-1990s movie called "Kissmouth," but can't confirm it. I've had someone write in and tell me that "Kissmouth" and "Love at Second Sight" are in fact the same movie, but I can't confirm that either. If you can, or if you know of any other credits I've missed, please drop me a line at
