INSPECTORS 2:
A SHRED OF EVIDENCE - 2000
The Swedish version!
ROLE DESCRIPTION: Gabrielle plays bank teller Betty Marsh in this movie, which is a sequel to "The Inspectors," both of which starred Jonathan Silverman and Louis Gosset, Jr. Betty is the girlfriend and relatively unwitting accomplice of Joe, an identity theft specialist who is not above murder.

OVERALL IMPRESSIONS: The only downside to Gabrielle's appearance in this movie, aside from its being too brief, is that the scriptwriters made her character too stupid to see what was coming. Gabrielle's characters have suffered some pretty grisly deaths in her other roles, so in comparison Betty Marsh's demise in this movie - being smothered with a pillow - is pretty tame. The film itself is better than average, but the first "Inspectors" was actually a better movie.

KUDOS TO GABRIELLE: Gabrielle plays a mousy little bank teller who has an apartment full of romance novels, and enough problems to be able to be swept off her feet by murderous scum. You wouldn't think an actress as cute as she is could pull off the role of a hapless wallflower, but she does, and surprisingly well. In one scene, she does a spectacular job of acting scared as she tells her boyfriend of the visit to her bank by a pair of postal inspectors. This was one of four or five roles of hers that made enough of an impression on me to turn me into a real fan.

TRIVIA AND SUPERFLUOUS COMMENTARY: Tobias Mehler, who was Gabrielle's real-life boyfriend when Robson Arms was shot, appeared in the first "Inspectors" movie, and in the film his girlfriend was none other than Tara Spencer-Nairn from "Corner Gas." The baddest of the bad guys in the first movie was played by J.R. Bourne. Mehler and Bourne really stole the show in the first movie despite Gosset's presence. Mehler was superb from start to finish, and Bourne's performance was absolutely top shelf - in terms of being truly convincing in the role of an extremely bad guy, his job in this movie was one of the four or five best I've ever seen. Bourne's performance was even more amazing when you compare it to his role as an extremely effeminate desk receptionist in "Liebe auf den 2. Blick ("Love at Second Sight")."

APPEARING HERE AND ELSEWHERE WITH GABRIELLE: Aaron Douglas, who plays a worker in this movie, played Greg Johnson in "Breaking News" episode "Dunne's Choice," and also appeared in "Just Cause." Brent Chapman, who plays Joe's partner, also appeared in "UC Undercover" episode "Kiss Tomorrow Goodbye." Brian Drummond, who plays the cop in the holding cell, also played a cop in "Pasadena" episode "A Lie Worth Fighting For." Cheryl Wilson, who plays a bank official, played a realtor in "As Time Runs Out" and an admissions counselor in "Mother, May I Sleep With Danger?" Claire Riley, who plays Catherine Hughes, played Florence Coleman in "Voyage of Terror" and a station manager in "In the Doghouse." Conan Graham, who plays the guy in the safe department room, played teen captain #1 in "Jake 2.0" episode "Last Man Standing." Don Thompson, who plays the desk sergeant, also played Buddy Miles in "Due East" and a used car dealer in "Disappearance of Vonnie." Greg Thirloway, who plays Inspector Hank Bridges, played Dothan Talbot in "Floating Away." Lynda Boyd, who plays Lizann Gold, played Trudy Barron in "Due East." Mark Holden, who plays Hunter, played a demon cop in "The Immortal" episode "Forest for the Trees." Michael David Simms, who plays Mr. Cox, played Zack Spencer in the movie "Dead Man's Gun" (in the segment "My Brother's Keeper," in which Gabrielle appears). Samantha Ferris, who plays Lauren Urbina, played a reporter in "Viper" episode "Paper Trail." Stephen E. Miller, who plays a bartender, played Mr. Anderson in "Due East," Magnum Potter in "Floating Away," and also appeared in Neon Rider episode "Where the Buffalo Roam" and "Outer Limits" episode "Glitch." Suzin Schiff, who plays Alex's secretary played reporter Valente in "The Net" episode "Eye-see-you.com." Trevor White, who played a cop in the bank garage, also played a soundstage guard in "In the Doghouse." Walter Marsh, who plays the old man in the bank, played Phipps in the movie "Dead Man's Gun" (the "Fool's Gold" segment) and as Mr. Bishop in "Video Voyeur: The Susan Wilson Story."
