PEAK AND FALL

I tell you why I cry and mourn

My strength, rule and powers are gone

The gold of youth turned to sand

No friends remain; alone I stand

Some petty devotions; hollow emotions

My life was once full of commotions

But now the youth has lost its spell

All that left is a dried up well

This well was once full of water

There were joys; there was laughter

Every one praised my beauty and pride

I fancied, the moon under my stride

No woman passed me without a smile

But now is left disease and senile

My flesh was once firm and strong

But now I think all this was wrong

How my wishes were mean and small

Now I see every peak shall fall
