FLM INTENSITY | Family Life Ministries Homeschool Soccer

Purpose
The Family Life Ministries homeschool soccer team consists of High School and Junior High players in the Twin Tiers area. Our program includes a Varsity team, which competes competitively in the Co-Ed division of the Western New York Christian Athletics Association league (WNYCAA), and a Junior Varsity team, which plays a number of games with local recreational and school teams. Practices start mid-summer and our season runs from the beginning of September through the end of October. We strive to provide a fun, competitive, but mostly a God-honoring environment where homeschoolers can improve themselves as players, and also enjoy the fellowship with their teammates.

Coaching
The team was founded by Jerry Saxton in 1998 and continued by David Little from 1999 to 2003. In 2004, David Forrest took over as head coach. David is a Christian and a member of Southside Alliance Church in Elmira. He and his wife Lucy are long-time homeschoolers and are Chapter Leaders of Chemung Valley Loving Education At Home (LEAH); David also serves as Treasurer for NYS LEAH. A member of the New York Soccer West Coaches Association, the US Youth Soccer Coaches Connection Association, and the National Soccer Coaches Association of America, he holds the U.S. Soccer Federation 'E' Coaching License and U.S. Soccer Federation 2006 Referee Grade 8 Soccer Referee designation. Since playing soccer at the high school & college level, he has been involved in soccer at the collegiate, adult, youth recreational and travel levels.

League - Varsity
The Western New York Christian Athletics Association soccer league consists of three divisons: Division I Boys, Division I Girls, and Division II Co-ed. The teams currently playing in the co-ed division include school teams Rochester School for the Deaf, Cornerstone Christian Academy, and Calvary Chapel. Our travel is limited mainly to the Rochester area, with home games being held at the Family Life Ministries facility in Kanona, NY. Playoffs are held at the end of the season, the winners of which head to the championship game currently held in Cohocton, NY.

Junior Varsity
In 2005, due to the high number of players, our team branched off into Varsity and JV teams. The JV team plays around 6-8 games and scrimmages against local recreational and school teams. Games are usually located in Elmira, our practice field in Big Flats, and the Family Life Ministries facility in Kanona.
