Step #1: Becoming a Team Member
First, you will be assigned to a team of 5 students
Next, you will be given a role to play
*Note: In this role, you will have the choice to take whatever stand you choose! With this privilege comes the responsibility to take this role very seriously.
Near the end of the class period, fill out your "WebQuest Journey" log book with your thoughts and reflections about Day 1 of the WebQuest process. (You will be writing a thought or reflection in this log book daily)
Step #2: Researching Global Warming
As a team member, you will be responsible to read the following web sites to gain knowledge about "global warming" and its effects on people, animals and the environment.
*Note: Many of these sites show a great concern over global warming, but a few of the sites tell a different story. Be sure to read about both sides of the story! (This background information is needed in order to make a decision about the Kyoto Accord)

Global Warming: Undo it! (Play video but do not sign the petition!)

When you think you have enough background information, complete the
"Global Warming Graphic Organizer".*Note: You must work diligently during this part of the process so that you do not hold up your team!
After completing the graphic organizer, join your team and discuss your findings.
*Note: Do not be surprised if your team does not agree on the severity of global warming. Even the scientists do not totally agree on this issue! At this point, you may find yourself forming your own personal opinion about global warming. That is a good thing, because very shortly you will have to use this opinion to take a stance.
Step #3: Researching The Kyoto Accord
Follow the same processes as in Step #2.

Complete the "Kyoto Accord Graphic Organizer".
Step #4: Forming an Opinion
After discussing the Kyoto Accord with your team members, form a personal opinion.
Use the "Opinion Sheet" to help you formulate your stance on this issue.
Remember to "stay in character" as you consider your position on this global problem.
Step #5: Creating Web Pages
Create 3 web pages to refer to during your oral presentation.
Refer to the "Criteria Sheet" before you begin this assignment.
Remember to review the "Web Pages Rubric" before you begin.
Step #6: Presenting Your Stand
Using your web pages to refer to, present your stand on global warming and the Kyoto Accord to your audience.
Remember to "stay in character" and be as persuasive as you can!
